[Tales from the House of Lions] Coming Back Home

Day 3,230, 09:07 Published in Belgium Belgium by MCKitkat

For years my schedule had been the same, travelling for meeting to meeting, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Presidential House to Congress and to the Alliance Headquarters. It were countless nights without any sleep, witnessing events all around the world until it suddenly stopped.

I was booted out of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and before I could hand over my keys, the locks had already been changed. Luckily for me, I had all my prized possessions in the Alliance Headquarters but I was still able to witness my portrait in the National Museum, right beside Mr. Wonka as second person in eBelgian History to reach 12 consecutive months as Minister of Foreign Affairs. The next weeks, I spent sleeping in the Alliance HQ and returning to Congress, yet I felt without a real home until I remembered. Across the border, in the Greyitude lied my Kingdom, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a calm place that I had left years ago. I remembered all the good times that I had spent there and with nothing holding me back in Brussels, I felt ready to return back home.

It felt empty, the whole Castle was abandoned, sure the servants and the Guard had been awaiting my return and kept everything clean but something was missing. I walked around the big halls into the bedchambers and it hit me. The people I cared about had left me, my daughters chamber was empty, she had been gone for more than a year and without her this place didn’t feel like home. I was quickly brought back to reality when my most trusted adviser, Luc, called me back.

“Sir, we have been awaiting you return, there are several letters from your father but following your request we did not send them to you.”
“Thank you Luc, I shall take a look at them”

“Please call me once you are ready”. I had rejected taking over the duty, my father had always been open to step down but I was not ready to take that responsibility upon myself, not after the loss of my Daughter. The inheritance wasn’t secured and the House of the Lions at risk of going extinct. Yet, I had nothing else to do and the Crown was in a pitiful state after focusing on the government. It was time to bring back the Glory to our House.

I traveled to the Shrines, several of them, set up for all the Goddesses of this World, Athena, Tay Tay, the eBanana Goddess, I prayed to them all, asked for forgiveness and for strength. It was time to start building up, alone yes, but keeping the memory of those that had fallen alive. Back then the times were of peace and fun, nowadays it was mostly war and conflict, if nobody was willing to take the first step then it was my duty as Grand-Duke, as Heir to the eBelgian Throne to take it.

The Offices were refurbished and I called all my advisers in, it was time to prepare the Grand-Duchy for greatness again, to prepare myself for greatness again. Before I could ask for the Crown, I had to remind the people of their benevolent ruler. I had to witness the land, from the great plains to the snowy mountains. From the cold deserts to the tall forests, it was a beautiful and calm land, it was my land and it was ready to show itself to the world.
