Day 4,142, 13:35 Published in Serbia Serbia by Cemi Kmdz

On March 24, 1999, NATO Secretary General Javier Solana ordered NATO Commander Europe General Commander General Wesley Clark to launch air bombing against cities and military sites of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The strikes began on March 24, 1999 and ended on June 11, 1999. The code name of the offensive is Operation Merciful Angel. The official reason for the bombing is the Yugoslav military operation Podkova, which was carried out by the regime of Slobodan Milosevic, aimed at ethnic cleansing of Kosovo by the Albanian population. US Defense Secretary William Cohen argues the bombings as follows: We launched military air strikes in Yugoslavia to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe in Kosovo!
Bombings were committed without the consent of the UN General Assembly. Up to 1200 aircraft from the United States, Britain, the Fed and the Netherlands are involved. For 78 days of war, 19,000 combat flights were carried out and around 37,000 missiles and cluster bombs were used. As a result of the bombings, the Central Command Point of the Air Force and the Air Force of the Yugoslav Army in the Frushka Gora Mountain, the Yugoslav Army General Staff Deployment Station, the Bătănitsa Airport near Belgrade, Danilograd in Montenegro and Pristina, 1,000 soldiers are killed. The Yugoslav Air Force, equipped with Soviet C-125 missile complexes and 2K12 Cub on April 27, 1999, has begun to remove one of the most modern American F-117 Stealth aircraft.
In addition to military sites, NATO air strikes also hit civilian sites, causing many victims and moral-psychological damage to the population of Serbia and Montenegro. Bombarded factories, hospitals, trains with peaceful citizens, bridges and churches in the cities of Belgrade, Nis, Pristina, Danilovgrad, Podgorica, Pirot and Kragujevac.
On June 10, 1999, an agreement was signed in Kumanovo between NATO and Yugoslavia, according to which the Yugoslav Army is withdrawing from Kosovo, and KFOR is in its place in the peacekeeping force. For its part, NATO is committed to ending its bombing over Yugoslavia. Kosovo becomes a UN protectorate, and NATO sends a military mission there.
Starts the reverse process. While hundreds of thousands of Albanians are already fleeing Kosovo ahead of the advancing YNA, tens of thousands of Serb refugees now leave their homeland because of the fear of revenge on Albanians.
Someone may be accusing me of sibling. No, on the contrary ! As a military historian, I have always been distressed by the cruel policy of the Serbian state towards the Bulgarians in Macedonia and the Bulgarian minority in the western suburbs, but when it comes to a futile violation of international law and murder of children, women and old people, my conscience revolts may be silent.

Why did the US and NATO kill 2500 and injured more than 12500 civilian Serb citizens during this air operation? Why did they later not admit their guilt and pay compensation to the victims and their relatives? Only in this way would they wipe away some of the shame that they themselves have stuck with these barbaric bombings! And if they have a guilty conscience, the NATO bombers have killed thousands of innocent people with their smart bombs when they come home after the mission and embrace their children and women?
We recently visited a group of reserve officers and sergeants Belgrade. The center of the city still protrudes as the eerie totem of the war-wrecked building of the National Television and Radio that was hit by the attack on NATO s aviation on April 23, 1999. It killed 16 civilians in the building and another 16 were injured and maimed !? ...
Later, NATO officials justify this attack, arguing that during the bombing, television was conducting military propaganda !? The truth, however, is that the bombing of the National Television and Radio in Belgrade under international law is a war crime for NATO generals to face in The Hague! But as they say, Blessed are the believers!

Twenty years after the war thousands of unspent parts of cluster airbobs were scattered in southern Serbia, near the border with Kosovo. About 160,000 inhabitants in 15 municipalities in the affected areas are exposed to lethal risk, and $ 38 million and at least 15-20 years will be needed to clean explosives.
The Serbian people met with dignity the enemy invasion. During the most violent bombings, the prominent Serbian singers and musicians, such as Ceca Rajtnovic, Vesna Zmimanac, and Goran Bregovic s band Bielo Dugme perform concerts at hundreds of thousands of Serbs rallied on the bridges over the Danube and Sava in order to rescue them from NATO airbobs.
I remember that the barbaric bombing of NATO aviation did not stop even during Easter holidays. As a true fancy and uncluttered cynicism of the airbrush, American airmen write: OUR GIFT FOR YOUR EASTER!
With air strikes on Yugoslavian cities, Allied allies use munitions containing depleted uranium that cause an ecological disaster with unpredictable consequences.
So now I often ask myself the question - are the NATO strategists proud of these air strikes and how they differ from those of Donetsk and Lugansk committed by the junta in Kiev where, with the blessing of Europe and the United States, thousands of innocent women , children and elders, and has destroyed the infrastructure and building stock of cities.
Today, the West s plan for Kosovo has already been implemented, but the painful memories of NATO s air strikes over Yugoslav cities will remain as unhealed wounds in the hearts of our neighbors.
