Why Those Balkan Battles are Important

So, I’m sure you’ve seen a shout or two asking you to fight in this battle.

So what? These days it seems like everybody wants you to fight everywhere’s at once. Let me explain why Slavonia and other battles out there in the Balkans are a little more strategic than most.

A country can only benefit from recourse bonuses if they’re connected to the country’s capitol, in Serbia’s case Belgrade. As you can see, it wouldn’t take much to cut Serbia off from recourses they gained from their conquests (which span through Italy -> France -> USA) In fact before they started attacking Bosnia the only region connecting their empire together was Slavonia. Now they have an alternate route through Brčko District.

So what does it mean to cut Serbia’s supply route? Well, the bigger they are the harder they fall. For a nation as powerful, and with as much manpower as Serbia, the impact of recourse bonuses are drastic.

Currently, they have a population of 21718. Let’s assume half of those citizens are actually active. Then let’s assume that 1/4th of those citizens are employed in a weapon company. This would be about 2714 workers. Now, with their current production levels, Serbia’s total production would be about 54,280 weapons a day.

If their recourses were limited to those in their natural regions, they would produce 37,996 weapons a day.

The difference is 16284 weapons that Serbia, probably our strongest enemy, doesn’t get. This doesn’t take into account food production, or the working manager. Sure, these numbers probably aren’t super accurate, but I’m only trying to illustrate a point.

So while it’s true that the current battle in Slavonia won’t successfully cut Serbia off, it’ll bring us halfway there. It’s also true that Apulia would actually be a more effective way, since it’s the only place where that single battle would cause a similar effect. But Italy isn’t as strong as Croatia, so regaining the region would likely result in Serbia simply reconquering it. (But they would have to go through the trouble of declaring war or natural enemy)

In any case, these regions (Slavonia, Brčo District and/or Apulia) are extremely strategic areas. If they’re liberated, Serbia will be hurtin, and devote most if not all of their energy to regaining them. And if you play your cards right, then battles and resistance wars in around here would even make excellent distractions/damage drainers, quite similar to the Hello Kitty or Lion King RW’s long ago. (Except these one’s don’t cost 5000+ gold 😛 )

Just sayin'
