When is political correctness /incorrect
Releasethe Krakken
Recently saw the Bruce Jenner thing and "trolls" grilled for daring to question this.
I for one dont really care. The Kardashian show was always a clown festival and I cant even remember why I watched them the one or 2 times.
But what I do not agree with is the wikipedia entry referring to him as she throughout.
The problem for me comes in the winning of the Olympic decathlon in 1976. The mens decathlon. Excuse me for being politically incorrect but a woman cant win a men's decathlon and vice versa a man cannot win a womens decathlon.
I have no problem if you treat them as the different sex once they have changed but all records must not be changed to incorrectly refer to his gender at the stage in history. Therefore until June 2015 he is a he and thereafter you can refer to him as she.
Change is a word to it describes a changing of gender if one have record of when this occurred its correct to reflect the gender correctly at the correct time in history.

Yeah steroids are bad
🙂
Actually I agree, the change in words should be from when they change they change gender. When describing the individual life up to that that use the original sex and the new one after.
Otherwise it is a little bit like Newspeak
I agree with you Krakken. The official records can't change the gender of an individual if such a thing occurs. Records are made at the moment. Gender at the moment should reflect that.
Of course the Wiki entry should note the change in gender so it should not be too confusing when someone reads it.
It would be the heptathlon for the ladies..
I agree with you. 🙂
meh. I still think transgenders are sexist if they say they "feel like they should've been born a woman". What does that even mean when the only absolute differences between a man and woman are strictly physical and not personality related? So you're attracted to other men? So are gay men, not just women. So you have feminine characteristics? So do straight men and women. Just like there are women out there who share masculine traits. You cannot define a woman as anything different than a male aside from strictly physical characteristics, which is why I don't understand the logic of changing.
I think social pressures to be someone they aren't causes them to want the change. Rather than be accepted for who they are by society, they feel they should have to change what they are. Rather than rely on society to accept them, they refuse to accept themselves. Which is why I think the more open society becomes to feminine men, masculine women, gays and lesbians, that transgenderism will no longer be relevant and will become less and less popular with time.
But regardless I agree, what happens before should stay as it is. I'm sorry if you can't accept yourself the way you are but what was done as a male or female physically and scientifically should stay recorded as such.
i dont really care about them changing . but i dont think he felt he was a woman when he competed at the olympics. and it doesnt even seem he was ever interested in males.
I'm just saying though i don't have any issues with transgenderism I don't see the logic behind it. Just like there's no logic in saying I feel I should've been born black or white, just as there's no logic in a facelift or any other plastic surgery. Too many people focused on physical features and I feel like humanity should be above that by now.
I agree with you though about the other though. It's fine if he changes himself but he can't change history too.
It's not social pressures causing them to change, their brains are structured more similarly to the opposite gender of their bodies and this causes the dysphoria (dislike of bodily features) because the brain is expecting the body to be different to how it is. Since at the moment there is no way to change the brain to match the body it the only effective treatment is to change the body,
IF anybody cares about my opinion, I think that if he/she want to change gender - none of my business, it is his/hers private thing. BUT I have right to get pissed when word about this spread out in media, and really important things get not enough coverage (important - maybe not necessarily more important, but things that deserve being heard much more than this, like... Anyone heard about Akon delivering electricity to 6 millions of Africans?). Maybe i'm wrong, but tolerance is about treating people like that the same way as everyone else, not preach it. No offence to anyone
