What People Think
Anthony Colby
Hello all. It has been some time since I wrote an article so I figured I would.
I will make it short and simple and just ask a question. An unscientific poll if you will.
I will also be as neutral as possible. As some may know there has been a little dust up lately over a land deal signed by the Irish Government with the UK. We have many articles being written over the issue but I have not seen a poll where opinions have been expressed. My opinion has been noted so that is why I will try to be neutral in my wording of the question.
Here it is.
Do you favor a land swap for Dublin with the UK for any reason?
Please answer in the comments. Also let us not re fight the battles of the last week or so here just a yes or no will do.
Of course I expect some of you just won't be able to resist.
Maybe just maybe if a majority of Irish citizens feel a certain way then the arguing can stop and we can focus on other things like football or beer or something.
Thanks
Anthony Colby

A government poll would be a good idea.
"Do you favor a land swap for Dublin with the UK for any reason?"
That's a bit of a one sided question. Including the details of the current deal would be fairer. Are you suggesting that Dublin is more important than Louth or Northern Ireland and therefore is the only region worthy of mention in your question?
Anyway, on the current deal that gives us Scotland and NI, a production bonus, extra borders, easy guaranteed TP medals, less chance of being perma-wiped again, the opportunity to not have to attempt to wipe UK again for the millionth time, ability to help our allies, opportunity to end a war that drained allied damage and contributed to p much every ally we had being wiped, then my answer is-
Yes.
Irishbhoy , next time leave some points on the matter for other ppl to make!
Yes
I tried to be as generic as possible. "Any reason" would include getting a deal from the UK. Including the details would make the question refer only to the current situation. This way it could cover any reason, which is why I worded it that way. I want to know if people favor a swap for the Capital or not. I didn't include the other region in the deal. This is just for the Capital.
Thanks for your response IB.
Dublin is not our capital ingame though.
I vote Yes
yes
I vote yes.
yes!
yes
Yes
yes
What IBhoy said, for sure. You guys are in safe hands with leaders like him, Padraig and others, who can see the long game and prepare. It took both intelligence and guts to sign that treaty, and I think it's served you well since.
FUCK YEAH!!
Yes!
yes!
yes!
Yes... we are getting Northern Ireland and Scotland... it is a good trade and I like the production bonus!
Yes!
Yes, or else I will rightly be called a hypocrite

Well fine then, I'll just be the only no vote. 😑

Yes
Bhane and New Faustian man were hitting against me, so they'll be No votes probably
I think there could be legitimate reasons for it, so my answer is YES
Gormy is just happy that Cork is d real Capital.
It's good to see so many Irish players voting intelligently. The deal is in both countries' best interests to maintain. Finally we can end the boring back and forth wars and focus on something else.
We may remain enemies, but I hope both nations can move forward away from the dire loathing it was last year towards a position closer to mutual respect.
Irishbhoy and Padraig have both made that step, and Ethel looks intent to continue in that respect if she wins the election.
Wow. I see the ICA is well represented here. lol
So far the vote is for swapping.
But come on the Capital only changed because we lost Dublin.
Voted Yes.
Well, I much prefer the Capital be Cork.
Yes, and if you take Dublin back right now, Cork will remain the Capital, so even if you're against peace, you won't get Dublin back as the Capital. Cork was Capital for 80% of last year. There were no complaints from anyone about the fact that Cork was our Capital in all of that time(including yourself afaik). Capital in this game has no relevance so long as it is not cut off from the rest of your regions so I think it makes a very weak argument for opposing a peace treaty that
sees the country gain actual in game benefits. We're playing eRepublik, we're not in RL Dublin in 1916.
And even if you take ICA members out of this altogether, so far it's 10:1 in favour in swapping.
eeeee, no, i guess...
Even a greater ratio if you add the ICA members like me that are gonna get kicked out.
😛
Cork has always been our strategic capital tbh
NO......
And Colby..votes from a slaves and corrupted retards who voted yes are not to be counted....
Kurgan is always a tough act to follow, but Yes the trade is good for us. I was originally in the Free Dublin movement, fought alongside Kurgan and Brutal, however the more I have learned the better in seems. From a game standpoint we gave up some symbolic non-essential pixels for some different, but more essential pixels. I love Dublin, but I love eIreland more...
No.
Swap others with consent perhaps, but never Dublin.
Why were the treaty supporters then fighting for Ireland in Dublin yesterday, like Dan Breen and today this Dude in Louth?

only asking like...
See I don't care where the capital is. For clarification I guess I should have said the "Capital" and not Dublin in my question. I said Dublin for the only reason was that it was the Capital at the time. What IB said made me rethink the wording of my question.
But still the sentiment is out there.
And I never knew the terms when my initial displeasure was displayed but the response I received pushed me into the no swap camp.
A logical response with the terms spelled out might have changed my mind but vile responses tend to make my angry and not listen to reason.
