We don`t sell our country!

Day 1,200, 23:39 Published in Romania Romania by Wallachian

I been a witness lately to the complete lack of logic of my own kin. And that because of a deal made with Ukraine, Romania got Bukovina for free and negotiated with Ukraine to give Northern Bessarabia (which had deer) for Southern Bessarabia (fish).
Immediately a few dozen so-called patriots (supported by a few jackals which were hoping to gain some political advantages given the following elections; and the anti-Romanian entities of Russian nationality from Rep. of Moldova)jumped at the actual government to tear it apart yelling "We don`t sell our country!"
It seems logical for every Romanian patriot to fight for its original country soil but let`s see their reasons.
Northern Bessarabia is in RL a part of Rep. of Moldova, an artificial state created by the Soviet Union during WW2 after conquering the eastern part of Moldavia (the western belongs to Romania still). The Russians started a process of denationalization and more than 1 million Romanians were deported to Siberia. Entire regions were depopulated and instead there were brought Russians and Ukrainians to fill the empty land and make it a memory that once this was Romanian soil. Because of this, the anti-Russian feelings are quite strong, especially in Rep. of Moldova and in the Romanian side of Moldova.
Even to this days many Romanians, from both sides of the river Prut hope that Romania and Rep. of Moldova will reunite, in spite of the political incompetence and the threat of foreign powers.
Let`s get back to our game. Many Romanians felt betrayed for having to give a Moldavian region for 2 Ukrainian. They know that Rep. of Moldova is an original region of Romania, what they don`t know is that the two regions exchanged from Ukraine, Bukovina and Bessarabia are also parts of the land stolen by the Soviet Union in 1940 after the Hitler-Stalin Pact which divided Romania, Poland and the Baltic States.
So it seems a bit illogical to me to fight against the current eRomanian government for giving away Northern Bessarabia and yelling "We don`t sell our country!" when you actually gain not 1 but 2 other former Romanian regions.

Obviously the vast majority of this so-called patriots must be 15 years old and never attended a history class to learn about the interwar Greater Romania or the history of our people. I actually had the "pleasure" to chit-chat with some of them and realized they don`t really know what they are doing and most likely have a flock mentality and follow their leaders.
I`m a patriot too, I want the best for my country. In my opinion gaining 2 new resources and help the war effort would have been a good prof of "patriotism". Because what is this word anyway? If your "patriotism" harms your country, if it makes you closed minded and if it affects your relationship with your allies, is it still productive? Is it still patriotism?
It might also be that they were manipulated into this by the political adversaries of the current government who will try to win the presidential elections which are about to begin soon. If that is the case, the Romanian politicians who tapped on the national stream in order to win elections without caring for the Romanian interests can be regarded as traitors. Some of them are members (or even the president) of the former regime which the actual government have released from duty.

Others said that instead of giving Northern Bessarabia we should have given Maramures instead. Well, by looking at the map, I see Northern Bessarabia having less than 200 citizens while Maramures has 500 plus. Where is the logic in that? Not to mention that Maramures is located on the Hungarian border and not sure if Ukraine by itself can hold it for too long.
Also, giving Maramures would have meant war between Romania and Ukraine and a few hundred gold spent for nothing, losing the Ukrainian alliance and jeopardizing the whole anti-Hungarian front in the region.

In conclusion, the RW started in Northern Bessarabia which was supposed to free the region in order to be taken by Ukraine was not succesful. While the Ministry of Defense orders were to fight for the resistance, the "patriots" and a few high tanks (which were more likely fighting against the Smif regime - you can see the whole list right here in the battle stats) have managed to win the battle.

Now of course we will have to live with the repercussions: Ukraine (and maybe other allies) will see how untrustworthy Romania is, how its military units fight against Ministry of Defense orders for "their own good", how divided the eRomanian politicians are. Basically, the anarchy that rules in this country.
Myself, I start to understand why some of our former allies have departed and who now fight for our enemies. Life is simply how we imagine it and its a perfect reflection of ourselves, our character, our strength, and our intelligence. We reap what we saw, so congratulations for those who fought against Romanian interests because "they know better". You did prove something all right.

Result of the battle for the Southern Great Plain:

(region which would have given us food bonus)

And here is where our "heroes" fought, against Romanian Ministry of Defense army orders, winning us a very precious victory:

Congratulations!
