Wartime Economics: With An Interesting Observation

Day 1,245, 08:54 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by Kishvier

So folks, as we find ourselves fighting a war, we have economic changes which is quite predictable, as the supply and demand of weapons, food, moving tickets, and the supplies those goods are made of fluctuates greatly from our norm. Oddly enough, this time the changes have come in the usual changes, with a sprinkle of some unusual changes.

Firstly lets look at the predictable changes in the Swiss economy. We have experienced some inflation, most severe at the opening of the war, but it has gone down a bit since then. Before the war the exchange rate was 1.00 Gold to 240 CHF. Following the declaration of Switzerland being Slovenia's Nature Enemy (NE) we experience a mild rise, which then skyrocketed to 1.00 Gold to 300 CHF. It's safe to say this wasn't a 'good' change, as wages changed little, lowering the value of any single person's work. Now that a day or two has passed, we are sitting at a point of 1.00 Gold to 264 CHF, which isn't crippling, but at the same time it isn't good.

Lets take a look at wages to explain this. The average competitive wage (Not including you minimum wage jobs and the like) was 31 CHF a day for a level 9 worker (Guru). For a level 11 worker (Guru*😉 the average competitive wage was 35 CHF a day. Converted to current Gold values, we were looking at about 0.12 Gold a day for the level 9 Guru, and 0.13 Gold a day for the level 11 Guru**.

Not great, but this is down from the payment from before the war, because Swiss citizens were paid 0.13 Gold a day for a level 9 worker (Guru), meaning a 3.65 Gold loss per year in wages in perspective, obviously not good for the Swiss worker. For the perspective of the level 11 (Guru*😉, they lose .02 Gold a day, meaning a yearly value of 7.30 Gold a year(!!!). Somewhat ridiculous when we've only experienced a small bit of inflation in such a short time, huh?

Well, not THAT different at least.

Now a quite interesting observation comes in the Slovenian market. The average competitive wage for a level 9 worker (Guru) in the Slovenian market is currently 45 SIT (Their currency tag). A level 11 worker (Guru*😉 works at an average competitive wage of 50 SIT a day. This calculates into being 0.20 Gold a day for the level 9 Guru, and 0.22 Gold a day for the level 11 Guru**. Compared to the Swiss job market, this is ridiculously more valuable than the Swiss market, a level 9 Guru makes 29.2 more Gold per year than his Swiss counterpart, and the level 11 Guru** makes 32.85 more gold per year than his comparable Swiss counterpart.

My advice? Start working in a Slovenian company and transfer your SIT's into Gold, because you will make a great deal more comparable money than continuing your work in a Swiss company. A great deal more money. Like 30 Gold a year for the higher levels. 30 Gold a year. 30 Gold a year. Yes twice, because of the value you aren't getting here in Switzerland, especially during the war time.
