The Irish Community - Pillar in the Making

Day 628, 06:11 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Irish Community

August 9th. Issued by Lord Rhindon.

Dear Citizens of Ireland,

The Ministry of the Communities has been set into full motion.

Under the Aran Tal Administration, this department will be progressing as rapidly as ever to encourage and sustain an attractive, active community within this proud nation of ours. We are a neutrally aligned Isle...our homes, hearts, minds, and words take precedence at this time over war and destruction - therefore the Irish Community is practically charged with the duty of keeping our good citizens entertained, comfortable, and warmly satisfied with the flourishing society we are to become.

Here are the primary objectives for the term, certainly not a list in full, but an idea of the priorities the MoC will be embracing from today...

Estate Contest.

A Q5 mansion in one of the most beautiful places tucked away our Fair Isle will become the property of one lucky citizen before long. In the spirit of community participation, tickets will be completely free...the only requirement for entry being a post count of at least 10 on the national forums. The ticket box is not yet open, but with this notification in mind, be sure to sign up for the forums and start chatting with fellow citizens, if you have not already done so!

More on this in a following article.

Community Site.

Before this term is up, Ireland will be in the possession of a fully functional national site - that will practically encircle every aspect of our society and professionally present the entire Isle to viewers interested in a comprehensive, up-to-date source of information of the country. This will include a Home page with a broad view of the nation in general, separate pages for the President and each Ministry and their staff, a New Citizen's Information Bank, an National Announcement area and other such installments.

Wikipedia.

This is an issue that is in serious need of addressing. Projects will include an extensive update of the Ireland page, and with the assistance of those concerned, the creation of additional pages providing information on key elements of Ireland, these being national events of importance, the War Council, the IDF, the Banc Ceannais etc. We'll keep you informed as we go.

Community Awards.

Irelander of the Month.
Most Trusted Politician.
Best Acclaimed Publisher.
Most Celebrated Soldier.
Most Reliable General Manager.
Most Infamous Citizen.

These are only some of what we have in store for you. Awards include all-round recognition...a mention on the wiki and in the media, and a badge for proud display in forum signatures.

Irish Writers Guild.

It can't be denied, many times we've been likened to "Warrior Poets", for good reason. Top Gun and his Defence team have the first description covered, it will be my interest to tackle the latter. There is an abundance of eloquent speakers here among us, and it is time we did something about combining our talent, ushering all aspiring writers together, to establish a tightly-knit group in which we can contribute our skills to the greater community of Ireland. To put it simply, here, members will be challenged to share and collectively refine their Speechcraft abilities. Internal Guild Competitions and community endeavors will spur on our zeal for maintaining a cultured, relaxed touch to Ireland's newspapers, journals, and literary entertainment.

And, if this undertaking gathers sufficient momentum - the Irish Writers Guild will stand as the administration office for something our land distinctly lacks, but should without a doubt have. Roleplay.

Roleplay.

Hosted on the forums, and at the crux of many online communities is the essence of Roleplay, in which a user gives his/her account a presence, a face, a smile, an appetite, garments, looks, emotions, habits, a reputation and a full, all-around personality. Whether it be at a loud evening at the tavern, a quiet place on the countryside road or at a decked-out community ball, players will be able to mould and shape their own character, based upon their eRepublik account. This is an excellent chance not only to participate in some casual light-hearted fun (although times are not always happy and pleasant in the RP world), but it provides citizens the opportunity to casually intermingle, get to know one other, and to deepen the traits we attribute to each well known citizen here in Ireland.

This is an idea I'd like to see become reality before the term concludes, as I believe it will be integral to our idea of The Irish Community.

So, there you have it. A quick run-down of my objections for the term. Much to attend to, of course, but all the more to keep busy with, and to achieve.

As for assistance, I have not yet appointed a deputy or staff under me, I do not have a need for extra yet, but may in the future as the workload increases. If activities outlined interest you, and you have a keen desire to participate in the establishment of one or more of them, do drop me a line and be sure to convince me of your capability.

As you can see, we've a lot on our plate this term. If you feel you'd like to contribute financially - which I cannot stress enough would be of infinite help to our cause - we have a special offer for you...

Donation Lottery - Free Food

For every 10 IEP you donate to The Irish Community organization to further our cause, you will receive 1 ticket to enter you in the running for a draw every seven days: a week's worth of Q5 food, winners announced every Sunday. So please, if you can contribute to us in this manner, don't hesitate to do so!

To wrap this article up, the activities described are not just an undertaking of mine, or of the Ministry's, but as the Community as a whole. The best thing you could do for yourself, and for Ireland, is to have fun, to fit in, and to enjoy.

So participate! In everything you can get your hands on. For today, you can begin by subscribing!
