Switzerland, A New Era

Day 2,451, 20:52 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by Kishvier

Greetings my brothers, I come to you with promising news. I've spent far too long before I've made my move, but it is time for Switzerland to grow.

For as long as I've been eSwiss, we've faced every threat imaginable: PTO, military attacks, we've seen friends stab us in the back, but through all of that we have survived. Switzerland has come a long way from my first days here, we no longer live in imminent fear of a PTO as we did when I arrived. We have won wars, and shown that we are not to be forgotten (Can you confirm that, France?).

We still have far to go, but it is on this day that I will make my stand. My stand against the plague that has ravaged our country for far too long, the stagnant and combative citizens who complain and destroy any headway we attempt to gain.

I've spent three consecutive terms in congress now, and I have seen the most horrifying things, the lack of action. Our congress has done nearly nothing in the past three months. We've passed part of a tax increase, but it took more than a month to enact. A month. You didn't misread that, but that is the status of our congress and of our people.

And many of you might ask, why on earth did that take a month!? That should take no more than a few days, including discussion, and you couldn't be more right.

The problem our country faces is a small portion of our population fighting change, fighting battles they've long ago lost. I was elected head of congress this month, and I wanted to take a hands-off type approach. I hoped that our congress could manage themselves with a few pushes in the right direction, but I was proved wrong. Most of you wouldn't believe some of the things that are going on, the arguments being perpetuated.

I won't name any names, but these people are arguing and fighting decisions that were made months ago, and these people offer no alternate path of action. They just complain to the point that nothing gets done.

And that my friends, is the root of the problem. I don't care if you disagree with me. In fact, I prefer some do. It keeps the system balanced, it keeps everyone sharp. But if you are to disagree with my path of action, you had better have another path to follow. Congress is ripe with complaints and people complaining about unattainable things, but the counter proposals and alternate ideas are arid and dry. This is the problem.

Today marks the day in which I took true control of the congress, and a day I hope you all will help me in improving this country. No more do I want any to sit and complain and block change without reason. From this day forth, congress will operate almost entirely out of the country forum. This decision has been reached multiple times by vote, but a few members of the congress have prevented it from coming full circle because they subscribe to a mentality of I know best. They don't. Congress has decided time and time again that the best course of action, is to utilize the forums.

Additionally, the topic of voting has been time and time again, brought up. The idea that a 51% or more, majority of congress or the country can be reached is ludicrous. There are far too many inactives and medal hunters that do not care to make such votes be possible. Therefore, any votes taken by the congress on the forums will be majority rule, with abstentions left out. I suggest the president take the same stance with country votes.

With that I will leave you all be, and remember Switzerland. Tomorrow is a new day, a new era.
