Referendum - Why Staying In Sirius is a Must

Day 2,421, 08:49 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Ayame Crocodile

Given the outcome of the Presidential Election it seems we will be having a referendum very shortly. One which will have a long lasting effect on the eUK’s prospects and it’s for that reason that I’m writing this to put forward the reasons why it is vital the eUK remains a member of Sirius.

I intend to keep this as matter of fact and waffle free as simple, And whilst this is an article with reason why voting to stay In Sirius is the best course of action, I will also try to publish another article with reasons as to why voting to leave Sirius is a bad (very very bad) idea.

You may think that the reasons will be the same but there are some that apply more to staying in as a positive and others that apply more to leaving being a negative.

Anyway onto the matter at hand.

#1 Demotion from a Privileged Position

This is an important fact that seems to be overlooked by many; The eUK isn’t as strong nor important as we as eUK’ers think. On the world stage we are merely a mid level nation, Only slightly bigger than our new trial member Ukraine, we offer less than half the damage output of the next smallest nation by damage in sirius, Turkey.

Now that it’s been made clear the point should hopefully be obvious to all. We are lucky to be a full fledged founding member of one of the two true alliances. Most nations around our size and ability are either ‘Pro’ or in the satellite mini me alliances built for the nations that are seen as not important enough to be full members of the true alliance but still important enough that their damage is wanted. Think Portugal or France.

It’s a sad state of affairs but the big nations survive by keeping their alliance doors closed to the majority so that the aims and interests don’t become too disparate.

Should the eUK leave Sirius we would no longer sit at the top table of either of the world alliances. It is inconceivable that we would ever get accepted into Asteria, even if we wanted to. We have nothing to offer them but trouble and they are heavily concentrated in one area.

So we would have a future out in the wilderness, with only the smaller alliances as a possibility, which I’ll discuss in the next article.

#2 Geographical Superiority of Sirius

Two things truly matter when choosing an alliance, First can the other nations involved be worked with and secondly are they in a position to actually help if it’s needed.

So lets take a look at the nations around us, the damage they deal and which alliance they are a member of:

When you factor in that Asgard and LETO are aligned with Asteria whilst Aurora, Pro Sirius and Sirius are aligned it becomes pretty clear that the eUK is surrounded by nearly entirely friendly nations whilst the alternate alliances are far far weaker in our region.

Equally obvious (except for Chile whilst they remain in Europe) is that Poland is by far and away the strongest nation in the region.

Now do we prefer to work with the strong nations around us which we already have good ties with and are happy to help us or to become the next eFrance and face a permanent wipe?

#3 What Goes Around, Comes Around

It’s often said that alliances come and go, And whilst that’s very true, what’s forgotten is the importance of being in the right place at the right time... or more truthfully being on the right terms with the right nations.

When things do change, and they will eventually, what matters is that the eUK is in a position to remain in the inner circle of powers no matter which alliance it ends up being.

However the eUK doesn’t hold the strategic nor military weight to do so, She does however have one very strong reason to get into the big alliances. Our close relationship with ePoland.

You see in the New World, Alliances always form around the powerful nations, Others gravitate towards them like celestial bodies. And one of those powerful nations that can build alliances and gets invited into the founding is ePoland.

Some may not like to hear it, But tagging along is in our best interest.

Whether one day the two current ‘big boys’ of ePoland and eSerbia patch things up and work together again or not, The fact of the matter is that ePoland will hold sway and by remaining loyal and close to them we may too.

Without this relationship we are a bit part at best and will be seen as ‘Pro’ whatever the future alliance is, as opposed to being a full member with all the rights and guarantees of support that such a position entails.

#4 History of Support

Whilst this point is similar to #2 it’s good to be reminded of. It’s nice to have big allies that have the right location to help but what is even nicer is knowing that they actually will.

In the last 2 years we have received direct support from ePoland on many many occasions, In fact in that time every wipe the eUK has faced ePoland has launched counter NE’s to come to our aid.

The crazy thing about this referendum is that at this very moment ePoland are fighting eArgentina to help us. That anyone should have the bare faced ingratitude to such a committed friend whilst they are in the very act of defending our nation is to me bewildering.

In closing

I hope that these simple points have shown at least a few of the many reasons as to why we should remain in Sirius. I’m glad this referendum has finally been called and I hope that the vast majority of the eUK recognises the superior position that our membership in Sirius brings and that we assert our commitment to the alliance and our allies.

Thus far there has been no reason given as to why we should even consider leaving and I hope that people will vote for what makes the most logical sense for the benefit of the eUK.

Right, well that’s article one done. Expect more.

Hail eUK!
Hail Sirius!
