Prometheus Unbound

Day 3,225, 02:07 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Citizens,

This week saw the ending of my 14 month tenure as Dictator of the eUnited Kingdom.

I have always approached the role based on the principles of maintaining democracy and respecting the rights of Congress; and so the people. This has seen me resolving various conflicts between Presidents and parliaments, and even stepping in as prime Minister on occasions to keep the country going.

I hope that during my time as Dictator no one had cause to doubt that democracy and when applicable the constitution were being upheld. It has been a fair challenge, that has also required me to effectively be available for button pushes around the clock for over a year, with many early starts (ew) to make sure conflicts and laws are begun at the right time.

However, I was in a unique position to preserve Parliamentary democracy which is something we must all now take responsibility for. We have to ensure that Congress remains heard as we revert back to the democratic model and it is for that cause which I shall now be throwing my efforts toward. The Dictatorship required me to remain politically inert. I am no longer bound by that, and intend to return to party politics at the head of a new party with a democratic and ground-roots ethos. This time next month (I deserve a bit of a holiday) this party will be functioning and ready to seek Congress places. I intend to lead by example.

Now to address the controversy; yes it was an oversight that not mandated decision was made when the liberation started. Having a donor should not really have supplanted the fact that no decision had been reached. However there is no reason whatsoever that the decision cannot be voted on anyway. I cannot see why a Dictator/Democracy referendum can't still go ahead to determine what the eUK wants to look like. The plus side is that people now may vote truly objectively on what kind of system they want without thinking about the individuals maintaining that system. To me this seems appropriate and the only way to put the issue to bed.

I've enjoyed my time as Dictator, but long stretches of it can make eRep feel like more of a chore, and it is likely that I wouldn't have gone another six months without seeking time off. The changes to the coup rules meant that, as I have written about before, the climate for Democracy had returned. Although Nick a Llama may not have acted what some people may see as lawfully, he has only done something which anyone as a private citizen could do, and ultimately it does not alter the will of parliament and the people if they still want to discuss how we will run our country.

Finally, to quote M. Gustave;

You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, f*ck it.

Thanks for reading,
