Ode to a Banana

Ode to a Banana...

A banana is lying on the granite
In my large kitchen.
It curves like a beautiful, silver, quarter moon
But it is not silver; it is a dull yellow.
Mottled in brown spots,
It has a revolting brown dent,
And I'd prefer to discard it.
But I'm craving a banana,
So I'll eat it anyway.
I slowly remove the peel,
And I can't believe my eyes.
Underneath the terrifying skin
Is the most tempting banana I've ever seen.
A few soft spots, yes,
But those can be scooped out.
As I sink my teeth in,
It fills my soul like a rainbow,
And I feel like I'm in heaven.
It just goes to show,
A book can't be judged by its cover..
