Suggestion: National Referendum/National Survey
Dear readers,
As this game is based on democratic form of government I would like to suggest a new feature related to the political side of the game. The feature (As you can guess from the title) is an option to start a national referendum in each country or a national survey. What does it mean? Lets find out!
What does National referendum mean? It means that the government will have an option to start a referendum in different topics in the game like taxes, mutual protection pacts and even wars. All the citizens of the country (above a specific level or other terms agreed by the admins) will have the right to vote. The results will determine the decision of the law. However, in order to let the congress to keep its power, each congress member's vote will have double power OR the final decision will be determined equally by the citizens and the congress members (the congress member's votes together worth 50% and the votes of the citizens worth 50

Why would we do that? Well, this feature can't help to make the game better, but it would be nice to let the citizens take part in the decision making of their countries. Of course that it can encourage people to make multies and even destroy countries by this feature, but the government will have the power to start a referendum and there should be terms for getting the right to vote.
What does National survey mean? It means that the government will have an option to start a national survey in different topics related to the game. The final results won't have any influence on the final decision of a law, it will be only a tool to see the position of the citizens on various topics.
Why would we do that? To encourage citizens to take an active part in the politics and let them have the felling of having an influence on the government decisions. This feature is not dangerous but it can't make the game better as well, just another tool to make the political module more attractive and enjoyable.
These suggestions are written in general. I don't want to give more details because this is the job of the admins. Besides of that, I'm almost sure that this feature won't be implemented, but if it does, I will be thankful.

Well, this is the reason I wrote that I'm almost sure that it won't be implemented. It has no profits for Plato or the admins in the terms of money.

I am not interested in votes, my only purpose in this article is to share my idea with the eWorld. People who want to read it are welcome, votes are appreciated and I am taking it as an extra.

has been done in eNL , but's kinda hard to keep track of the votes , due to having to use g-docs......
But if it would be implemented in erep it would be a good thing🙂
The problem is that the same person can vote many times by the name of others, then you will have to "investigate" the case. Moreover, the decision isn't implemented by the game mechanics like I suggested. But the 2nd idea (national survey) can work by other tools then Google Docs.

This idea came to me this morning (not that it's hard to think about it), I didn't use your article or took ideas from it. You know, I didn't suggest an option to share the treasure with the citizens 😉
great work...as you said multies may and i'm sure will have a large influence...I would say that the final answer (after congress and citizens vote) should be from the CP ...simple yes or no ... but this can still have consequences ...if congress says No , citizens Yes and CP says yes that could lead to a CP impeachment ... however if the answer of congress and citizens is the same the CP can't say or vote the opposite...🙂
There will always be someone who will break the rules , or better said escape the "law" ..😛
Finally the president (with the approval of the congress) is the one responsible for creating the referendum, in cases that he/she and his/her team think that it's necessary. The government doesn't have to use it.

Lets say that this feature is exist and you are the president or one of the congress members, will you agree to start a referendum on a topic like war or new alliance?

Because sometimes congress is not represent the ppl's opinion..so it would be nice to check sometimes the truth of any law..Ofc it would be nice the government not have to follow this referendum..
If the government doesn't want to let the referendum to make the final decision it can use the national survey feature.
