Wouldn't surprise me if there were rural interceptions aswell - to do with hunting i.e. know its "lucky" is a single goose flies over you instead of circling as means you're hidden. But pigeon shitting on you was a city jibe.

From what I know of history everything was an insult to the Irish. Everyone looked down on them. Not fair really.
