Idea: Migrate forums with main site
Lord TJ
It would be incredible to think that I'm the first to suggest it and I doubt I am. As a newer citizen but a seasoned surfer, one of the things that annoys me the most with any e-community is fragmentation. Some services are in one place with one set of controls and another set is in another. I find this is particularly the case with forums - a separate database and self-dependent from the main site means having to register for a separate user/pass, yadda yadda etc.
Another thing is that it means opening a new browser window and having to visit the forums every day to check posts (which puts me off visiting there at all) as there is no notification of new posts in the main site so far as I've seen.
So really - what would the legislators think about sending a bill to Admin to take this into account? It would increase forum participation and ease of navigation out of sight!
Cheers

no just no
the reason our forums are seperate in the first place is because admin sucks. they cant manage a forum correctly and their conditions for it being connected to them is that their own people do the admining. ie the lack of freedom of speech and lots of ridiculous censorship.
Tim, or they add a function to our forums in the community section, would make things a lot easier.
the USA had this when they trialed forums out
it failed hard
If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
😁😁
thinks work just super right now
The current forums we have now are fine.
@Tim: I can understand exactly where you're coming from and I've seen many a community do down this road with its Admins (I'm in the data hosting biz).
If folks are happy with the status quo, that's cool. I'm not having a shot at anyone, but this should be taken into account when someone complains in the future about why people don't visit/read the forums.
