Goodbye, So Long, and Thanks for All The Work! (but only partially goodbye)
enderaggie
Greetings USAF Members and eUSA citizens!
My name is enderaggie and it is possible you may not know or talk to me but it is likely for many of you to been touched by me, particularly those that have been a SF or USAF member. I haven’t been a public player but I have been a lurker in the shadow and the grease that kept the wheel spinning for those MUs.
About me…I had an early start in the game just before mayors disappeared. I wasn’t too involved the first year. I joined just because it sounded like a cool idea. I really hoped it would turn into an immersive and deep global simulation much like in Card’s Worthing Saga (awesome book…you should read it!). I enjoyed running businesses, playing the market and accumulating money. Back then it was a tough life and spending gold on training bumped you from .04 strength to .06 … hell yeah! A mentor to me in those early days was DesertFalcon, who could never win the presidency.
After surviving the whole dedicating your “24 hours” between study, training and working (and don’t get me started on the three work skills or I might vomit) I joined the eUS Mil in April 2009 in the National Guard and in May I was in the Mobile Infantry where I remained until in August 2010 I joined the Marines. This was around the v1 (or was it beta?) period when we had real time combat maps. Wow, was that a bit intense and crazy. I still fondly remember all of Tiacha’s help and giving me supplies, in a role I one day hoped to serve.
When the USMil / US drama started in spring of 2011, decided to join xDavidX, Kelldraygo, Pdeb, Evry, Anyonymous and Joe DaSmoe (who still pisses me off he left without returning what was owed to SF) among others (but that is all I can remember) in forming a new government military unit, the Special Forces, in April of 2011. If I remember correctly Kell Draygo was the founding CO, followed by xDavidx, liquid oxygen, TTi-09, Bockson, Oblige, Rainy Sunday, Shreddi?, Oblige and I believe ending with Ilphen (if I missed anyone feel free to note in comments below).
From the start I was asked to be a Lt. in charge of a subdivision, Bravo 1, which I named the “Fightin’ Dragons”. One notable recruit from my platoon was a player by the name of Oblige. Within a month or two I volunteered my companies to CO xDavidx to be the commune for the Special Forces as well as being a primary quartermaster. Back then one building could work as many members as we wanted so my measly one q5 produced all our tank needs. By mid-fall I was asked to be a division Captain, but to be honest I sucked since I don’t dedicate time to interacting on IRC / forums.
When October rolled in, Pdeb was miffed he got passed over for CO and tired of his role so he tapped me to be the Quartermaster General . He didn’t really explain what that meant other than I need to answer questions about our supplies and money. But I’m a big data / tracking person so it was a role that suited me well. I took the role and made it my own. In this role I became a shadow officer, doing all kinds of work that few saw except through game alerts. But those who were COs and XOs can attest to the consistent level of work I brought to my position.
Around this time a newbie that had been in my platoon, Oblige, started making waves. When erep changed factories to work slots and I did not have enough space to be the only commune, Oblige spent crazy money upgrading factories (and one of mine) and we shared commune and QM duties. Between the two of us we produced all SF weapons and supplied all the 100-150 daily requests (around 90% of the requests on some days). I know Oblige is a divisive player in the game, but my work with him, which continued for years after this, was positive and I hold him in high regard. Special Forces was a great time and I enjoyed playing with other people like Shreddi (, Pdeb, Bockson, garmr, iphen and errorka (thanks for all the help!). I ended up being an advisor across leaders who helped new COs with whatever they needed and also had several conversations with people about their moving on when the time was right. I always felt a MU leader should not hang around too long but I didn’t do too well following my own belief. It was around May of 2013 I had intended to resign but just never got around to it.
In the spring of 2014 the various national military units looked to combine together into the United States Armed Forces (USAF). At first it looked like there wasn’t a place for me in the new leadership and I could have quietly slipped away, but I opened my mouth and spoke up to provide input into the new system. Next thing you know I’m now the Logistics Office over finances, supplies and the QMG. I spent a lot of hours working on the merge. John NWP, TTI-09 and Artela were selfless communes for the USAF for a good while. I am greatly indebted to John NWP for his tireless help. Also thanks to DMJ who is a master of tech. Eventually I took over all USAF commune work once again as I built up more factories and we switched to house production instead of weapons.
A person of note was Dinnyin who was a great when he jumped in as CO for a period and it was a pleasure advising him. Two stand out for special thanks! Nui04, who I enjoyed working with for maybe three years! Sad that he went his own way but it was a great time serving together. Also, special thanks to Rainy Sunday who I remember was my LT in Bravo 2 when I was a horrible Bravo company leader. We have worked together for at least four years and she has jumped in as a commune many times. While life sometimes takes her MIA, she is always a helping hand.
And that brings me to today. After serving my ecountry for many years (at least four and a half as an officer) and spending countless weeks of time sending supplies, tracking money/supplies, answering questions (etc etc) I am excited to retire from officer work. So what’s next for me? Am I disappearing from the game? No, I’ve promised to maintain my account and continue the commune operations for the USAF which will be much lighter work and no longer require me to keep my USAF google sheets up at work and home 24/7 and a couple hours free every Sunday!
To all the past Special Forces and US Armed Forces members, officers and leaders thanks for a great time. It was a pleasure to serve with you and, to all the members that got food, tanks and money from me…it was a pleasure to supply you!
And without further adieu, here is to hoping I get 25 comments to scratch that off my stupid quest list.
And because I can, here are some numbers to (perhaps?) blow your mind (note I failed to capture the first five months of my commune work):
• $27,000,000 give or take a couple hundred thousan😛
the estimated total US government money that came through me for USAF / SF
• 46,782: the number of work slots I used for USAF since April 2014 (I failed to count with SF)
• $253,037.87: My USAF / SF worker salary ($96,777.37 + $156,260.5😉
• $174,277ish: My costs to WAM tanks / WRM for USAF & SF (totally miscounted this for half a year and gave up tens of thousands of dollars…oops)
• $7,228,398.47: My USAF / SF WRM costs for producing tanks until production switch ($2,906,397.81 + $4,322,000.66😉
• 963,445 My USAF / SF Q7 tank production (598,063 + 365,382😉

greatest boss 🙂
The few months we spent together were very enlightening and I thank you for your tireless dedication to this stupid, stupid game. I appreciated your counsel in times where there were no others with whom to speak and will always extend my hand in friendship to you for as long as we are both still here.
Thanks again, man! o>
