fingerguns gets to know… Mama Lunete

Day 3,195, 17:49 Published in USA USA by fingerguns

I love this kid. I just met Mama Lunete when I came back and it was like...kindred spirits. I asked her to be my media director and he has been knocking it out of the park- as you have surely seen. Under her guidance I think at one point the Feds had 3 articles in the top 5 at once? Like within just a few days of the term starting.

Anyway, he’s the best. So I surprise-attacked Lunete with an IRC interview...

Lunete: Oh no! I've gotta put my face on!
Is this going to be on TV!?
MOM! MOM! I'M ON TV

😁flippin adorable, right?

So, why do you go by 'Mama Lunete'?

Well, the simple answer is that "Lunete" was randomly generated by a name generator. Senryaku and I were simply talking one day and he introduced me to a game. I have always been terrible at deciding on a name, sometimes it takes me HOURS in a game, so I generated this one. The "Mama" aspect, I believe anyway, was some joke we had going between us that I cannot remember now.

What brought you to eRepublik?

I think I had made an account some long years ago, maybe 2010 or 2011, I had signed up for my home country (Ireland). I spent a few days just clicking buttons and I had no idea what was going on. The game just did not look inviting and I didn't quite understand what was going on, so very quickly I quit without ever really getting to know the community. Later, around July, Senryaku was telling me stories of his adventures inside eRepublik, and I decided, yeah I'll just make an account. I actually tried to talk with the community that time, and it worked out great!

So how did you come to know the feds?

Well when I initially joined the game I joined SFP, back at the time they were the 6th party and I was pretty happy to sit around on the party forums and learn about the community from their perspective. To make a long story short, I think at a certain point I felt like the SFP community had become a little too inward facing and I wanted to experience the rest of what the game had to offer. I took a little bit of a break for a while, just going between the various parties, seeing what felt right. In the end I settled into the Feds after they warmly welcomed me on the forums, some of the guys there I knew already, like Aramec and Paul, vouched for me. I'm not sure how things would have gone if I didn't settle with the Feds but I've certainly been more than happy here.

I like you. Do you like me?

I do like you, you have the energy I missed from this game when I started playing it. Talking to you has made me want to keep playing.

Oh thank you, how sweet of you to mention that unprovoked. (I'll probably edit out my question) Anyway, you're super good at media. Do you do media stuff in your actual life?

Hmm, I am a student at the moment so I've never held a job in media, but I suppose I've had some experience working in it. I have contributed to, and edited for a short time, the newspaper for my secondary school (high school), and for a week I was co-head of a full Press team, with Journalists, photographers, designers etc. during an event the school was running. We produced a daily magazine, and that was certainly a learning experience that I think has made me quite confident in producing articles in eRepublik. It's not like I have any kind of extensive experience in media, but I suppose it's always been something I've done, and been pretty good at.

Is it something you'd like to pursue in your actual life?

Personally I haven't quite worked out what I'd like to pursue in real life. My goal right now is simply to learn as much as I possibly can about everything I possibly can and see where that takes me. Journalism was something recommended to me by a career advisor, and it's never not been on the list of things that I'd like to pursue, but I don't think it's ever been top of that list. I'd never rule it out though.

So what are your ambitions inside of eRep? How can I make your dreams come true?

Haha well I'm pretty much living them! I don't particularly value the power or prestige that comes with being POTUS, or any of the normal political goals. My only goal really is to entertain people. If eRep dies around me I want to at least make sure the last people are smiling with me as it burns. So, I'm already doing that. If I can make this game have some life again, in any tiny way possible, I'd like to do it.

And that's why you're my new favorite.

Lunete is great, right? The time zone difference makes it tricky to catch each other, but working together has been really smooth. We came up with a plan for this term in the Feds and thanks in large part to Lunete, it’s going swimmingly! We’re lucky to have him/her. Just another member that makes The Federalists the greatest party in eRepublik!

ATTN FEDS: You could’ve made $1500 on this article just for being P/H.
