Community update: Farewell, accomplishments and competition results

Day 594, 04:39 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Irish Community

On a personal note, I'd like to thank everyone for taking part in Community Activities this month. Last month, the so called 'Alliance for Change' made lulz and community spirit a cornerstone of their campaign. I took it upon myself to introduce their suggestions, and I put much effort into doing so. I am disappointed that the very people who called for change didn't take part in it. My assistant Tuetorix who had the task of writing the Congressmen Guide and updating the Wiki resigned, which means that some tasks are left undone. What I feel I have accomplished this month has been to put in place the structures for the future with which future Community Ministers can work with and improve upon. However, this improvement is totally dependent on you, the people. Below is a list of things accomplished and tasks remaining to be done:

Accomplishments

*Organising the Mentor System
*Setting up the New Citizens Information Bank
*Organising and awarding inaugural Community Awards
*Organising a system to contact all New Citizens and a detailed New Citizens Message
*Setting up the eIrelandfun channel on IRC
*Advertising and increasing participation in the University
*Organising and holding fun competitions
*Setting up the Irish Community Org (which also serves as a Question and Answer Org), the Irish Community newspaper

Tasks remaining

*New Congress Members Guide
*Updating the Wiki
*Getting the State Lottery back up and running
*Contacting New citizens and publishing a regular New Citizens Guide
*Getting people involved 🙁

Lottery:

Darragh O'Faoilean told me he was going to run the lottery. Haven't heard anything since. 🙁 The next Community Minister (if there is one) will have the responsibility of ensuring it is not inactive like this month.

Awards:

Politician of the Month: Pip Kelly

There were no public nominations, and since I have returned from a few days away, there has been a change of presidency. Thus,I get the casting vote. Pip led his party to 2 extra seats in the election after running a very good party presidential campaign. Not only that, but he has been exceedingly active and insightful on the eIreland forums. Congratulations Pip.

Soldier of the Month: GarrettDA

This was the ony public nomination, and in the interest of getting people to make more public nominations, I am going to back this one. GarrettDA has 2 Super Soldier medals and has caused over 6000 damage points in his eLife here. Keep up the good work.

Employer of the Month: No one

No nominations and I'm not in a position to comment on this.

Publisher of the Month: Tayto

A close run one here between Tayto and Gráinne, and in the interest of encouraging up and coming players to get publishing, I am giving this to Tayto, after many public nominations. For a brilliant satirical article with some interesting pictures, this award goes to Tayto.

Teacher of the Month: Anaille Kolshire

In a quiet month for the university, Kolshire has stimulated much debate already, and the course in International Diplomacy is a must read for budding Ambassadors. Thanks to Mannimarco for suggesting this award.

Don’t forget to make your nominations for these awards. Did one of your fellow soldiers take a bullet for you? Has a politician gone out of their way to help you with your concerns? Has any editor gave you goose bumps with their way with words? Has your employer made you feel like a valued employee? Let us take notice of the great and the good of eIreland by awarding them a Community Award!

P.S. Still no feedback on possible prizes and donations. I personally donated all of the prizes this month. A discussion on funding in the forums got only one response. A once off donation from a wealthy citizen would more than adequately fund any prizes.

Competitions:

Submit a funny picture which describes something which has happened recently on eRepublik

Having only received entries from one person, so well done to Mannimarco for this effort:
