Hello, eUSA. We live in challenging times. PEACE is knocking at the gates of our last fortress state. We are accustomed to running 51 candidates from each party for 51 seats in congress. We were unique in this and in that we often fell short of qualified candidates to fill election spots. Our population in most regions was low. Elections were won and lost on the margins of 30 votes. Our 51 congressmen were able to grandstand in their newspapers and on forum threads about eUS greatness without fear of the consequences from distant enemies.

No more.

I am privileged in that I have been selected to be amongst the few allowed to run in what may be the final congressional election of the eUS 'First Republik'. Rather than our usual 255 candidate election, we are only having 100/50. Rather than a congress of 51 members, we are only going to have 20/10.

As our nation collapses around us, our businesses fallen under the boot of PEACE forces, it is tempting for us to become fatalistic. Some will chose to quit. Others will make outrageous comments about sacrificing everything and fighting to the death.

I choose to fight. I choose to live.

I choose to apply for position of congressman in the great state of Florida.

Platform Details

Continuity of Government
As your congressman, should it become necessary, I will continue to faithfully serve the eUS through the forums with the goal of its liberation. I will work with the other congressmen, every party in the eUS, and the forum admins to ensure that all eUS citizens continue to be represented even in the diaspora. Only by ensuring that every voice is heard can we bring every voice together in our struggle to liberate our states from PEACE dominion.

PEACE
In order to do this, it will be important to keep an open mind with respect to the nature of the PEACE alliance. Rather than treating PEACE as a monolithic entity out to destroy us, I will work with our congressmen and our government to seek divisions within PEACE. We are living in a new world, and we must fight a new kind of war.

Peace with PEACE
The recent controversy with the Non-Aggression Pact has shown that divisions do exist. I was not in congress when the NAP was negotiated or agreed to by the eUS, but that the eRussians pulled out of the treaty at the last minute and the developments that have occurred since then have presented diplomatic opportunities that we must realistically consider. By dividing PEACE against itself, we may put ourselves in a position to liberate our own nation as well as the others both allied and neutral currently living under PEACE oppression. Our pride and our prejudices cannot interfere with our survival or the freedom of our citizens and allies.

Resistance
In addition to high level, national diplomacy seeking to encourage divisions in PEACE, we should seek to take advantage of the pride and initiative of the many resistance groups sprouting up around the eUS. By coordinating with these movements, we can choose who to annoy and who to placate in furtherance of national goals.

Military
While many will balk at the idea of diverting precious resources from our military, by offering support to the resistance groups that will be run by independent citizens, we can achieve a coordination of action that would not be possible if these groups maintain full independence from the national movement. By involving more people without commanding their absolute obedience, we can broaden our base of the support beyond our overworked and understaffed military. We will also be able to take advantage of private resources combined with the national contributions.

Baby Boom
While our national resources are by no means exhausted, it is clear to all that our economy has suffered greatly due to the occupation of our high resource and high population regions. The most important thing to beginning the challenging work of rebuilding our economic strength will be each and every eUS citizen. One very important aspect of the eUS population will be growing it with outside recruiting. The function of the national government in this process is making sure that every citizen is given enough of a chance at eLife that they are encouraged to stay in the game.

Mentorship, Evacuation
The mentorship program and the training division are both critical elements of any new player strategy. I personally know both Bill Brasky of the Mentorship Program and Angelini of the Training Division and will do everything I can to see that their needs are met. I will vocally support Cerb, and the Flying Unicorns. I will encourage our national government and all of our citizens to do the same. I will work with every willing eUS party to develop their own capacities to assist with these efforts.

Federalism, the Parties
By encouraging the eUS political parties to participate in this work, rather than focusing solely on winning elections, I believe we can deepen the involvement of every citizen in the eRepublik experience. While the eUS Forums and the #usa-chat IRC channel can be daunting, a party forum and a party IRC channel is a much less intimidating environment for new players. By exposing players to the game more gently, and encouraging their extensive involvement in both mediums, we can encourage higher activity levels amongst our players through their parties and the national government.

Economic Development
In addition to relocating our citizens to eUS territory and involving them in the game, it is crucial that we regain access to important raw materials. In furtherance of this objective, I will be discussing options for export license sponsorships and currency negotiations with friendly nations possessing the resources we'll need to take our regions back and rebuild our economy. I will also do everything in my power to encourage the formation of new businesses in territories still under eUS control and expand the number of jobs available to new citizens. More open jobs will drive wages up, aiding our citizens in purchasing the things needed for national success.

Economic Game Mechanics
Another strategy I will encourage to increase the buying power of our citizens is a reform of our tax system. In "real life" I believe in low taxes and free trade, because the real world is too complicated for any government servant to manage. In the game of eRepublik, my study of the game's mechanics has led me to believe that the simplicity of the eRepublik economy, the universality of import taxes, and the challenges of contract enforcement require a modified approach. There are also no issues like "Health-Care" or "Poverty" to justify massive government programs which elicit controversy in "real life". Almost all eUS tax revenue goes to fund the military, and a drop in tax rates will not indefinitely spur economic growth.

Income Taxes
For some months now, the eUS has maintained flat levels of income taxation, and low import taxes across the board. I do not believe that reducing the overall level of taxation will magically increase revenues. What I do believe is that by reducing taxes in some industries while compensating with an increase in others, we can grow industries which are desperately needed, and either shrink or profit off of industries which are not.

For example:
By lowering the tax rates on weapons, more workers and company owners would be encouraged to work in the weapons industry. The growth of this industry and the profitability it experienced would drive consumption for higher quality food, additional gifts, and additional home purchases. By keeping tax levels steady or even raising them on these items, revenue would be maintained from a zero-sum standpoint, and growth will beneficially affect the favored sectors and all others with it. Furthermore, by raising taxes sufficiently on industries such as the various RM industries, we could effectively shut down those industries and concentrate workers in more important areas. Once a high resource region is liberated, this policy would obviously require adjustment.

Import Taxes
Import taxes should also be adjusted to recognize our new situation. Rather than low import taxes across the board, we should raise trade barriers to protect industries which are able to operate locally. By reducing import taxes on all Raw Materials, we will encourage imports of these items. With only medium resource regions regions remaining, this work is better done elsewhere. We should then raise import taxes on most manufactured goods to encourage those industries locally. The only exception should be weapons so that their prices are accessible to all of our citizens to the greatest extent possible.

Transparency
I am not going to congress for a medal. I am not going to congress for 5g. I am going to congress to serve the eUS. I am going to congress to serve you.
