Aussie Vegeta for Prime Minister

Day 589, 05:53 Published in Australia Australia by Aussie Vegeta

eAustralia,

I humbly would like to offer myself as your candidate as your elected Prime Minister for July. I represent the Australian Democratic Socialist Party, and would like to explain to you my beliefs and views - as well as convince you we are far from being a group that has lost it's message, but in fact offer a mix of fresh ideas, new people and new perspectives that will well place us to tackle the challenges of the future.

So, who is Aussie Vegeta?

Well, both on here and in Real Life, I have always had an interest in the economy and business sector. This lead me to getting involved in the Australian Business Association (ABA) and also getting to know the then MoI (corny-ratbag) and dMoI (scotywest). After discussions with them, I created my own organization, and started purchasing companies. Within a few weeks I was offered an apprentice role within the Ministry of Industry (MoI), which I took enthusiastically. Being a very quick learner, within 2 weeks I had been promoted to Deputy. Continuing my strong work there, I excelled and was promoted again mid-term to Minister of Industry. More recently, Tim09 asked that I become his Deputy Prime Minister for this current term, and I have served well to ensure there is a check and balance to his great work as PM, assisted to ensure the return of Tasmania to the people of eAustralia, as well as gain an overall view of where we are headed, what needs to be improved, and (hopefully if you agree) HOW TO GO ABOUT IT.

This last month or two, thanks to the return of Queensland and Victoria, I believe we have seen a incredible amount of growth and activity, in eRepublik, on the eAustralian forums as well as on IRC!

Well, like Calibur, I would prefer to release a separate article in a few days time on the Cabinet I would like to have work with me to help our country. However, I will let you know now that I will be allowing my ministers to choose their own staff. And, I will be encouraging them to use the Deputy and Apprentice roles to get more people interested in beinging involved in politics, and shaping the future of our nation. It is one of the most important aspects of this game, especially for our country, where working with occupied regions is a given.

Anyway, tonight I would like to share with you some of the things if elected, that I see that could be improved to leave eAustralia in a better position than when I start in office.

While I believe the Wargames have offered great benefits to us in building our strength and capability (and let's be honest, the interest of people who LIVE here), the economy has shifted massively with the introduction of wargames.

From an economic viewpoint, food/grain seems to have settled - but not in a good place. It has landed in an over supplied state (too much is available for too few buyers).

As a contrast to this, we seem to not be able to get enough Iron to fulfill the weapons demand for the wargames. So, I would like to see an agreement made with a nation that is overstocked in Iron and that is short on Grain, and come to an arrangement with them for a trading our excess grain for their excess iron at a 1:1 rate. I believe, this way we don’t upset our own economy, as well as still paying taxes to our government.

I feel that the changes made to the 3-stage Military last term have now become well known, and I think that the teething problems have worked their way through, and am excited to keep working with my MoD to develop our Military so that we become a strength on the world stage. I have yet to see the results from the Boot Camp trial, but if it has gone well, I would like to see any new citizens who want to join DropBears or ACUK go through the program. I would also be keen if it has worked, to see the program expand to a wider number of players, perhaps also becoming an entry point to ACAR for citizens who are demonstratably active.

This term will be massive for Foreign Affairs. In fact, I believe it is becoming THE BIGGEST issue for us for the next few months, given SA and WA will soon be up for return. My resolve is that Western Australia (WA) must be returned to eAustralian control. The current Agreement must be enforced, and I will announce my thoughts on how we can achieve this soon. We need to keep on with our end of the current agreement which we have with eIndonesia so that we are ready. This includes support (possibly from Goverment to provide loans or co-contributions to citizens to purchase companies in WA to ensure we have met our obligations).

The job that has been done with Ministry of Cultral Services (MoCS) messaging all our new citizens has been fantastic! I hope some of you new players agree. I want to keep this program going, and add afew of my own touches to this.

The information gathered by the Ministry of Information (MoIF), is great, but I would like to see the flow of information more freely to our citizens. I will be working on smarter ways for this to happen so that we don’t just end up with longer reports that no-one wants to read, but gets the info out that people do want.
I want to work in depth with the head of iTechnology to be able to offer paid contracts for programs and technology which helps us collect information on new citizens and get in touch with them early. This will will be incredibly valuable to the nation.

Defence is an incredible important portfolio, again given the work we have over the next couple of months. Unlike my opponents, I believe the current model of paying for the services of Dropbears and Koalas works quite well. Through providing support by weapons, we not only support their increased rank and damage, but also offer fair compensation for their contribution to our national security. I am concerned that paying an arbitary amount would not in effect achieve this goal, and while I would be committed to maintaining or increasing funding for the Military to achieve the aim of improved activity, damage and rank for ALL of us (including ACUK), I am concerned that money purely for participation may not be effective.

Finally, I am keen to work WITH the senate. Senators, I would like to see 3-4 of you working with each Department. This would allow you greater insight into that particular department, and therefore knowledge when commenting on proposals or bills to do with things you care about. I feel that this would also give the senators a more hands on feel to the departments, and a chance to actively contribute to our nation.

That is the essence of what I stand for. Thank you for reading, and again I believe I have the committment, skills, fresh perspective and enthusiasm to represent you well. I will always be available and accountable, and I would offer myself as more than just an ADSP representative. I would offer myself as an ePerson, representing YOU, for our country.

Cheers, AV...
