A weekend rant #3 The Economy

Day 3,197, 15:51 Published in USA Ireland by Wandering Warlord

Greetings and good day my fellow mad citizens! Today I would like to discuss and question the economy and how it works in erepublik!(I highly doubt the economy itself will answer back however) In the last week or so I've been spending a lot of time in the market, whether for the weapons needed in the battles I've been involved in lately or simply food to keep me going during my day to day madness. Other times I'm in the marketplace to sell goods courtesy of Madman Farms & Food. I even check in on the job market to see if I could earn more money a day for all my hard work! All these trips to the various markets have one thing in common they change a lot and sometimes drastically!!!!

I'm all for change don't get me wrong but, when it comes to market change I prefer it to be in my favor! I mean who decides this? What factors go into it? I'd imagine employers and their bank accounts factor into our wages and that consumer demands factor into prices on various items. Those things would make sense, however there is probably more I am missing. The economy can change fast and hard but, it never favors both the consumer and distributor at the same time (probably impossible to accomplish) in my experience.

Here at Madman Farms & Food it cost me 10 USD in tax to produce my goods however at the current price in the market my bread is going for .01 a piece. That equals out to 1 USD for every hundred! Sure I can raise my prices but, how am I going to compete with other food distributors if I charge too much? The current prices on 1 star food for consumers, is a steal however not so great on me (poor industry choice) How did the price drop from .09 a piece to .01 in 1 maybe 2 days?????

That however was only one example of changes in the economy. In the job market everyone looks for the highest paying job right? Why accept less when you can make more? That is my motto and so, I actively search and relocate to a new job if the price is right! That is not always the case! Job wages can change just as quick as the marketplace, jumping from high to low or low to high. I will admit that when I first became a Madman wages were around 90 USD so, the average now is a vast improvement being around 190-200 USD. I can't complain there, wages mostly go up over long periods of time however on a week to week basis it goes back and forth.

My point is, the economy is fickle thing! You never know which way the money will go or who it will favor!! Although with the constant change it does raise a brow to what things actually factor into it. I question it often and named a couple of things that I thought might. So my fellow mad citizens and other readers what things do you think or know factors into the ever-changing economy? Like I said the economy probably won't answer the questions for us!

Sincerely your,
A Madman
