A Weapon of Last Resort: Iain Keers for PP

Day 1,210, 08:01 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Spite313
Dear friends,

With the support of my brothers and sisters in The Unity Party, I have decided to run for Party President. It was never my plan to run for office again, but sometimes fate takes strange turns.

Background

When I was born, TUP was a weak third place party, with a small core of players struggling to make it relevant and address major issues affecting the UK at the time. Still shaking off the legacy of our forebears from the 313 invasion, TUP had been in decline since the election of our last President Final Destiny in mid-2008.

Along with other talented people, such as Malta_1990, John Forseti and many others, I helped build TUP throughout early 2009 into the second place party. We doubled our membership, brought our paper into the top ten most subbed in the UK, smashed congress records and took the Presidency for what would be the first of nine consecutive election victories for TUP.

Over the year I focused all my attention on the party, building our reputation and supporting our new players. We grew and developed, and eventually became the largest party in the UK. Over that time, we evolved into the natural party of government, launching the Ministry of Home Affairs, a whole host of gifting schemes and revolutionising the way the military is organised and funded. To this day, TUP is the major charity organisation in the country.

Now we face new problems and new dilemmas. Our population is becoming complacent, tired and bored. Our party is struggling against waves of apathy, non-involvement and low membership numbers. Despite remaining the largest and most successful party, our dominant position is weakening. For the good of the UK, it is our duty to make sure that TUP remains the guiding hand behind our domestic and foreign policy, always putting the new and vulnerable first and building a country based on efficiency and involvement.

Time for renewal

For this reason I have decided to step forward again and offer myself up as leader of our party. It is a difficult time we live in- falling numbers of voters, an alienation of our membership from the internal structures and environment of the party, a drop in interest for congress and government positions. I hope to begin to re-involve and re-integrate our membership, to begin to build an unstoppable momentum which will once again catapult TUP into pre-eminence.

This is not a struggle I can win alone. Each member is vital to our success: and each player as well. Every citizen out there who wants to be part of something more, who wants to achieve something in their game- I ask them to join by my side as we begin the march to victory. We will deliver stronger finances, we will intervene in markets, and we will fight for the rights of the ordinary citizen. We will do all of this, together.

There will be those who are cynical about our vision. There always are. It is in some people’s interest to maintain the status quo, to accept the slow erosion of the public purse and the acceptance that the private sector will replace the public. TUP is now providing 100% of the gifting in the UK. Why is that? It is because a UKRP President refused to step out of his comfort zone to support the new and vulnerable citizens, and would rather let his rival party pick up the price tag of national success. There are dozens of examples of such creeping rot in the UK, and they must be cut back.

Our fundamental guiding value as a party is that power, wealth and opportunity should be in the hands of the many not the few. Our mission is to achieve that by creating a country where any person can be President, where any citizen can start a business without fear of facing vicious trading cartels or profiteering. Where you as a citizen are given the guidance you need to achieve your maximum potential, and then the motivation to give something back to society yourself. Every member of TUP is signed up to this mission; these values. We ask you to join us, to give up your time to drive the UK forward.

You can find us on the UK FORUMS which also has links to our private IRC chat room, which is the beating heart of the party. All are welcome, don’t be shy, you’ll fit in in no time.

In the upcoming election, I hope that you will choose to vote for me, to give this country a chance, to give this party a chance. For a stronger TUP: Vote Keers on the 15th March.

Iain
