A Timeline

Day 4,690, 02:01 Published in USA USA by George Barker

With all the lies being told, and the liars fessing up to some of their lies, it's possible to build a timeline that will help those of us confused about events to figure out what makes sense and what doesn't:

Asteria invades us.

CODE, which is engaging in some kind of boycott of the game, is unable to defend us. Tyler Bubblar wrote an article alluding to this; Bubblar now says -- in direct contradiction of his own article -- that CODE refused to help us.

Tyler Bubblar goes to Serbia and Iran and ends up signing a NAP for six months. He proclaims "neutrality" at this point.

Bubblar publishes an article with some kind of complaint about rumors of some kind of nefarious dealings from the mighty and menacing country of Ireland, and uses this, in part, to justify leaving CODE. He claims he has evidence supporting his allegations of this dangerous plot, although he's too much of an honorable gentleman to produce it.

We leave CODE, proclaiming "neutrality."

After several months of the NAP, we participate in an "exciting" attack on (our former ally) Brazil, at the behest of and assisted by, Asteria. Of course, Brazil is easily defeated. Krapis, now president, celebrates this awesome feat. We really ought to have given him a Roman triumph.

After this attack, Krapis writes an article and badmouths CODE in it for for ... something.

CODE, responding to our attack on one of their friendly alliances, announces multiple airstrikes against us.

Bubblar writes an article blaming CODE for ... something, and admitting the "neutrality" of the NAP was a sham -- the goal was always to make us allied to Asteria.

Literally, that's it. The TL/DR version is this: Asteria invaded us and threatened to wipe us. The current establishment gets mad at ... CODE! for the invasion, allies itself with the invaders, and attacks a CODE ally. When CODE attacks us, Bubblar writes an article proclaiming CODE was what "we" thought they were, whatever that was. You can't make this shit up.

I have no idea how these airstrikes are going to play out, or what's going to happen in the future. I do know this is the first time in my e-life -- and I've been, to my embarrassment, a continuous citizen of the eUS longer than anyone except Archibald -- that I won't be vigorously defending us when we're attacked. The people in charge of this country are liars and double-dealers. They've lied to us the citizens, to allies, probably to themselves. It's an embarrassment to be "led" by such people. My country, right or wrong -- absolutely. My country, liars and hypocrites? I just can't do it, not for these people. We're better than this, or ought to be.

As an addendum, missing in the timeline is that a couple of years ago we attacked Thailand/Croatia, and got Croatia wiped by Asteria as a result. That was a couple of years ago, but many of the people running things now were running things then, too. There are a lot of faultlines here, and unfortunately most of them lead back to us. When the current establishment beats its chest about how terrible CODE is, A) they never say just what CODE has done that makes them terrible; and B ) we ourselves have a demonstrably sleazy track record.
