[WRP] - A view from Parliament - Issue 13

Day 1,878, 23:59 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Huey George

Preamble

In this latest "A view from Parliament", I'll update you on 5 completed law proposals, bring you my views and vote on two law proposals still up for the vote and end with my views on a few other votes Congress(Parliament) are currently considering.

Law proposals

Completed law proposal are;

President of Latvia proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted YES. This MPP should continue because Latvia is a good ally with friendly citizens. The MPP should also allow our citizens to aid them in their own battles.

The vote ended
30 YES votes to 4 NO votes in the UK
26 YES votes to 2 NO votes in Lativa

The President of Ireland demanded a sum of 0 gold from your National Treasury in return to a peace treaty with United Kingdom.

I voted YES. This was because the training war agreed between the countries was agreed to be finished.

The vote ended
20 YES votes to 1 NO vote in the UK
31 YES votes to 1 NO vote in Ireland

President of Australia proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted YES. There seemed to be a great consensus among my constituents overwhelmingly for this and a MPP with Australia is likely to benefit both countries.

The vote ended
27 YES votes to 9 NO votes in the UK
11 YES votes to 0 NO votes in Australia

President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Indonesia

I voted YES, This MPP should continue because Indonesia is a powerful and experienced ally with friendly citizens. The MPP should also allow our citizens to aid them in their own battles.

The vote ended
35 YES votes to 1 NO vote in the UK
29 YES votes to 0 NO votes in Indonesia

Income tax change from 3% to 5%

I voted NO. The law proposal to change it from 5% to 3% only passed 13 days ago, that is not enough time to test the system or allow the average citizen to feel the benefits of the change.

The vote ended
15 YES votes to 18 NO votes

I’m pleased this law proposal was rejected and congress continues to serve the will of the people.

Law proposal currently under the vote;

VAT & Import Taxes: Weapons

I have already voted YES. This is because I've seen an overwhelming consensus among my constituents for this. The money raised from this should benefit our younger/less established citizens if used effectively by the government.

However we must be mindful to safeguard against making weapons un-affordable and a population reliant on hand-outs of weapons through schemes such as CTA or from MUs.

The current vote stands (as of 22:47 Day 1,878 of the New World)

23 YES votes to 4 NO votes

Income tax change from 3% to 5%

I have already voted NO. Again for the reasons outlined above

It’s interesting the same question has been asked again of Congress(Parliament) with the last vote close and the original vote which passed close, I guess a certain about of lobbying must be going on to get a few members of Congress to change their voting stance.

I still believe it is the will of the people to see this law proposal rejected.

The current vote stands (as of 22:47 Day 1,878 of the New World)

10 YES votes to 11 NO votes

Other Congressional Votes

Members of Congress also are currently considering a few additional votes.

Details of the other Congressional votes can be found here. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-in-game-voting-hall-10-01-13-vote-2191480/1/20

My voting and reasoning is as follows;

1. Cap the Call To Arms Weapons Donations to lv36 (Divisions 1-3 only).

I voted NO. All "ta😜aying" citizens should have equal rights to "Call to Arms". Although I'd encourage citizens who do not require the benefits the scheme provides to not take advantage of it.

2. Mr. Woldy is the King of eUK.
I voted NO. "No Gods or Kings, Only Man." We all stand shoulder to shoulder, no citizen should be elevated above.

Although I do not think it'll ultimately be up to Congress(Parliament) to decide. There will also be some which will say "Mr. Woldy is their King" which is their right and others which will recognise that he is just a citizen like the rest of us, which is their right.

It is a shame however I feel it'll always be something which divides the nation.

3. Bank of England to start an Investment and Loans Bank for Citizens.
I voted YES. If managed well it could benefit the citizens of the UK. It will be a lot of work though.

4. I prefer to Propose/Discuss/Sponsor/Vote in the:
I voted BOTH. My personal and many constituents preference is eUK Media however many other constituents prefer the eUKforums, so in the future to use both seemed a fair approach.

As always I welcome the view of my constituents. Please feel free to comment or personal message me.
