[TT] SFP's Constitution - raising awareness

Day 3,663, 18:27 Published in USA USA by Leon Gutierrez

Greetings to everyone! In Tonight's article, I'd like to bring to the surface, the Constitution of the SFP. The reason is that I have noticed some new faces and activity, so I wondered how many people in the party - especially returning and new players, are aware of the Constitution?

For myself, I never really read it until recently and now it's given me a big insight into a lot things, such as helping me define what the end goals are for any projects I do. For myself, knowing about this Constituion and actually reading it, gave me a deeper sense of appreciation for the party and the past party president's who've put time into working on this document and I am sure it has an important value for any members curious, or in the Socialist Freedom Party.

So Did you know about the Socialist Freedom Party's constitution and for the more senior members, how will have you understood it ? The Socialist Freedom Party’s constitution is a pivotal document that all members should not be ignorant about. It is what defines us and grounds our party work, our political and economical objectivity - a guide to say the least. If you have always wondered “what is the SFP views on X” read the constitution first, and you’ll probably find, figure out, or work out an answer. If none of that still didn’t satisfy then definitely ask!

The point of this article is to simply bring awareness to a document that I think should not simply be left to discuss in the forums, but that by making it publicly announced, we could gather more eyes and possibly find members who want to make a change to it or understand their role through it.

So where can you find a copy of the SFP constitution? Well on our web forum Socialist Party Forum. Years of work by many different forms of the Revolutionary Commitee and past party presidents have gone into redefining, changing or clarifying aspects of the constitution to enable the party to move forward with clear objectivity on most aspects.

Read this for anyone wanting to get further involved in the party, as it is ground work stimulation for new ideas, and new proposals, in fact here's a snippet.
Quote:
Section 13: Democracy and Voluntarism

Subsection 13.1: Voting and Direct Action

4. Party members who hold a minority view on any matter shall be respected and listened-to. While majority decisions are sometimes necessary to reach agreement on a plan of action, they do not imply the need for Party members to follow a centralist or authoritarian party line on all matters.

5. Although consensus, unity of action and unity of opinion are desirable, Party members are free to form working groups or affinity groups, and to initiate campaigns, organizations and tasks without approval from anyone. Such initiatives shall be criticized only if they do obvious harm to the Party or to the international e-proletariat.

Sub-section 13.4: Party Proposals
1. Party members are always free to start up and pursue Party work on their own initiative. A more formalized Party Proposal may also be put forward by any Party member in order to gain support for the initiative from the Party as a whole. In order to receive funding or political support from the RC, an initiative needs to be put forward as a Party Proposal.

Any of this known to you? If not, well, there you go. Use that to engage the party more and become more vocal! The SFP will grow so long as the membership gets more involved with it!

Until next time,
-Leon Gutierrez
