[POLL] Like or Dislike? The Last Unity Candidate Process [BIA POLLING BOOTH]
Bia Pandora
This article will be an example of the polling system that Mike Ontry has tested for Unity Elections. This poll can be put into every citizen newspaper and everyone can vote at any poll, in any article, and it feeds to the central database. Everyone deserves a vote, even in tough times. Try it out, it only takes a minute and we get the most fair process offered thus far.
From Mikes article:
"Let this poll serve as a tech demo of (IMO) the best option so far for having an in game POTUS primary. This was presented last month as an option for a primary on the eUS Forums and in an article by Candor. Certain players were against it's use stating that most citizens would be too lazy to go through the voting process. Not sure why...
The voting process is not time consuming at all. To insure that voters are only allowed to vote once, are eUS citizens, and who they say they are the program provides a code that the voter must copy into their profile. The program then searches the voters profile for the code and counts their vote. This is necessary for this voting system to be secure and almost exploit free.
I could have used cookies to keep track of votes but it's easy to clear cookies and vote again. I could have used IP addresses to keep track of votes but it's easy to use proxies and vote again. I could have just asked for citizen ID and left it like that but then people would use someone else's ID to vote.
Features of this voting system:
- Citizens are only allowed 1 vote.
- Only eUSA citizens are allowed to vote.
- It only takes about 30-60 seconds to vote.
- No one can see how you voted. Not even me.
- Only one way to exploit...Multies. (Or pay for votes but that's nothing new.)
- Unbiased and accurate vote counts.
- FUN, NEW, and IN GAME!
- Every eUSA citizen may vote without having to sign up for a forum or join a top 5 party.
- Can be included in HUNDREDS of different articles, forums, websites, wherever!
How to vote:
- Click on your choice
- Provide your NUMERICAL ID (you can even paste in your whole profile link)
- Copy code into your profile
- Hit the verify button
That's it. After your vote has gone through you can remove the code from your profile. It's only used to make sure that you are who you say you are and determine if you are eligible to vote.
The results board will update every 5 minutes. If it does not seem to be updating try a hard refresh (ctrl-f5) to force browser to reload the image."

We can all vote anywhere.
Hey, p good system you have here! Gives voice to everyone! I like it.
It's all you and Mike doll
What?? We can post this election everywhere and all the results tabulate? You must be joking.
I know right.
OMG where were you guys a few weeks ago...or even a few days ago.
If this is the easiest way to get all the votes in and prevent fraud, then let's go for it.
I'd like it in addition to the party primaries, only because there is a lot of discussion that takes place on the party forums when there is a poll there....at least in the Feds, anyway.
Announced 6 days ago, the idea at least:

If anyone remembers Stanley Icubus (sp), the mechanics are not new, though I don't know how to do it myself.

To reload image you may have to do a hard refresh (ctrl-f5). That will ignore your browser cache and effectively re-download the image.
I liked this way last month, hopefully we can actually get it implemented.
Ah like I said on your article, I didn't look into it more because it never updated. Wasn't sure what it was.
We could probably implement this though for future elections. I'd still like to do party primaries for this month, but it will be interesting to see if these results differ from those results.
lol I like it.
This is way too complicated. I wouldn't vote in this way.
Doesn't eRep provide oAuth anymore? Mike?
Not that I endorse the idea of single unity candidate and not that I have ideas how to counter a unity candidate, but I just thought you should take oAuth into consideration... if it still works, that is.
sorry, my mistake, it should have been "...not that I DON'T have ideas..."
"Ah like I said on your article, I didn't look into it more because it never updated. Wasn't sure what it was".
In my memory, from last month, it updates every 6 seconds. BUT you have to refresh your page to see the updated results.
I would also make this in addition to party primaries. The parties choose a candidate to be listed in this vote in game.
There needs to be an option in between. For people like me that believe the premise was ok, but it needs expanded to include more people.
Also, as for my thoughts on this way, it has a definite plus in it's inclusion, but that would also be its downfall. Is there any built in system with which we can exclude AFA votes? Or would they be counted as well?
Unity Candidates are creating more polarization. That may be bad or good.
My feeling is, *with this system will give voice to those who subscribe our papers, or otherwise has access to this information.*
I abstain because I don't know what the fucuck is going on anymore.
What I see here is a bunch of 'Flufferist' who realize that this method will work and have no counter argument...I noticed somewhere that the USWP and the WTP are holding their primaries on the eUS Forums where the polls can be controlled by any admim...what they see here is a 3 to 1 margin against their method and for the method they can't control...fingerguns acting like she never heard of this before yesterday when it has been being discussed for a month...scared 'Fluffer'...?
Ichabod, you may be hallucinating, because there's only one person in this entire comment section who works with Pfeiffer. Also there isn't a single person here who likes him.
But I would like, from someone with experience working with this voting system, an answer to my concern about AFA and multi votes.
Chutley +1
bigcdizzle, I'm working with Mike on this to see what we can get sorted out.
The technology seems so close to being what we need, but obviously no system is going to be perfect. We just have to figure out what system is the most difficult to manipulate and most accurately reflects the true voice of the people.
I'm hoping we don't need it this month at all, but we'll hammer out all of the details so hopefully it can be a real option going forward.
'Ichabod, you may be hallucinating, because there's only one person in this entire comment section who works with Pfeiffer. Also there isn't a single person here who likes him.'
If you are not working against Fluffer then you support him. Everybody keeps saying they don't like Fluffer yet he is still telling America what to do. If you don't like him...fight him. I will promise you one thing if he or his hand picked failure runs...the AFA will be in the White House come November 6th...
