The Italian Revolution launched by PMI came to an end as Italian governmental forces defeated rebels attempting to seize control of Sicily. Despite support for the rebels by mercenary forces, the Italian government managed to maintain its control of the island and successfully fended off the rebels' attack. Following the rebellion, the Italian government has urged reconciliation in the face of national division, promising forgiveness to all who participated in the rebellion and stating it will work with those dissatisfied with the government to ease tensions.
To recap, the Partito Militare Italiano (PMI)(translated to "Italian Military Party") launched a coup against President Gustibus, unhappy with their recent electoral defeat. The rebels attempted to seize control of Sicily by capturing the city of Palermo. Sicily became the sight of fierce combat between forces loyal to the government and millitary forces that sided with the revolution. Despite the heavy use of mercenaries by the revolution, the government was able to organize a successful defense of Palermo and maintained control of Sicily, driving the rebels back.
Following the defeat of the rebels, the government issued a statement urging reconciliation, promising amnesty to any supporters of the revolution and swearing to work with the rebel leaders to unite Italy behind a new government. The Italian government has also officially stated its intent to continue Italy's status as a neutral nation, and claimed that any foreign support for the government was not in response to a call for help but instead was spontaneous. The Italian government also thanked all those who supported the government, promising to financially compensate all those who participated in the revolutions' defeat and suspending current government programs to fund the compensation.

The government's actions following the revolution, being reconciliatory rather than punitive, show that perhaps President Gustibus's administration truly hopes to unite Italy behind a common government. Whether or not these efforts will successfully reintegrate the rebel leaders and their men into the Italian government and military remains to be seen.

Nice writing!
Good article!
Good article!
A couple of unclear things:
“ To recap, the Partito Militare Italiano (PMI)(translated to "Italian Military Party") launched a coup against President Gustibus, unhappy with their recent electoral defeat.” it had nothing to do with the defeat on the elections. We explained several times the reasons of this. Any other candidate from the other side would have been accepted as we always did.
“The heavy use of mercenaries”. We have used no more than 5 of them! 🙂 when we found more, we considered it was no longer worth.
“ The government's actions following the revolution, being reconciliatory rather than punitive, show that perhaps President Gustibus's administration truly hopes to unite Italy behind a common government.” Let’s clearly admit that if there would have been punitive actions, there won’t be eItaly anymore. 😉 so it’s in the interest of everyone to try to have a dialogue, and the coup has provided a strong signal on this.
Thanks for the information! Always happy to get first-person perspectives from the eItaly community!
