o7. I know it's a lil late, been waiting on some interview answers from someone. But I guess that ain't happening yet.



There are no big updates on the foreign affairs front, so here is the first in a new series of Alliances that the eUK has been apart of.

Our first is, ATLANTIS, which was obviously, way before my time. Hit us up in the comments if you were around back then.



ATLANTIS, or the Atlantic Treaty of Latin, American and Nordic Territories for International Security (I'm not quite sure where we fit into this). It had 14 countries, and of the two active alliances at the time we had the larger military.

History

ATLANTIS was founded and immediately found itself thrust into a war against the only other major alliance, PEACE Global Community. Back in these days, when there were two big alliances they actually went to war with each other. Take note Asteria and Pacifica...

Timeline
22th August 2008

ATLANTIS Treaty is signed, officially forming the alliance.


28th August 2008

Romania declares war on Hungary, conflict between ATLANTIS and PEACE GC is inevitable.

Paratroopers from Sweden, UK, Spain and Argentina come to Romania's aid, while all members of PEACE GC are aiding Hungary.

Day 1 - Romania Conquers Eastern Slovakia.

War happened and then got broken up by the Admins due to bugs. Anyone wishing to read up more then reference this wiki page

17th May 2009

Sweden declares war on ATLANTIS's own member state Germany.


18th May 2009

Third Sweden-Germany War begins between ATLANTIS members Sweden and Germany.


21th May 2009

Sweden and Poland attack Germany and split the member nations, formally dissociating ATLANTIS. Hassan Pesaran declared ATLANTIS dead



So. Providing relevance, lets see how this foreshadows the way things are today.

Members:
Argentina: Well, in my three and a half years in eRep, the first two, and indeed my own first term as CP of eUK was dominated by Argentina attacking us on the anniversary of the Falklands War. Nice to see we started out together.
Bosnia and Herzegovina: I must admit my mind is drawing a blank. I am sorry.
Canada: Once enemies, PLUTO vs Orion, now staunch allies. Good times to be back on the same side.
Croatia: Lads
Finlan😛 Very much not lads. Estonia ftw!
Germany: insert love heart here
Greece: interesting...
Israel: see croatia
Norway: See israel... common theme.
Polan😛 See croatia
Romania: Same... once again.
Spain: See Germany
Sweden: opposite of lads. Finland level. Sweden, Finland, REMEMBER ATLANTIS.
USA: interesting actually to see that we are capable of being on the same side. Especially considering they asked me to join Pacifica and we briefly considered it about this time two years ago.



In summary it seems that ATLANTIS set the groundwork for a lot of our alliances nowadays. Even though we have thought with some, we have worked our way back together. And other's well, best not to talk about them.

Join us next time when we look at the much more complicated alliance of PEACE.
