[Mick Gatto] Taking a moment to say thanks

Day 2,112, 08:31 Published in Australia Australia by Lord TJ

G'day folks

No matter what happens with the upcoming elections I won't be returning as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the next administration, nor any position for that matter. I am taking another break from government. Rolling on the past 2 months as Speaker, Party President, Deputy MoFA-turned-MoFA has made me quite tired. Nonetheless I was glad to help and hope it made a difference. However it has made me more tired that usual (plus 'things that lack that make me tired' issues - that wasn't lulz - those who know my medical history will understand what it means).

I will handover my MoFA duties on the 6th of September at 11pm (0600 eRep) when the next Executive Branch administration begins. I will handover PP duties same time on the 16th.

KHMC members, Senators, Cabinet members and international counterparts are welcome to hit me up and I'll be around the respective boards, but I'm not going to be making as many articles as I have. Not so much because they weren't voted up a great deal, but because most of the work from here on in is 'under the hood'.

Given the above I want to take a moment to say thanks to everyone for their support during this period. I've never felt this tired or rolled onto/taken on so many roles at once. A few good folks have pitched in like that due to the shortage of workable people for the positions.

eAus is going to face tough times over the next couple of months and I'll put in whatever damage I can to aide its cause. I seek leave on the 6th with nothing but the best of wishes for the next Executive that they may keep our finances in surplus, build on our alliances and promote the Aussie way abroad.

Cheers,
Mick.
