[EN/FR] I Have a Dream: Merge/Neutrality
Monsieur Guillontine
Merging Controversy
Many Belgians love the idea of a merger, whereas many Belgians hate the idea of a merger. Now, I will tell you my opinion, and that is that I do not believe a merger is necessary for Belgium’s success, but, I do understand that a merger would definitely be beneficial to a certain extent. However, the amount of drawbacks that overpower the minimal profits Belgium will accumulate.
There are many problems I see with a merge. If we think about it, there will always be nationalistic people, not willing to succumb to the Belgian banner. Why would they just want to give up on establishing their own independent country? Many veteran players will leave, as they see that their nation is no longer what it used to be. Not only that, but what about our diplomatic stance? Surely, Poland will not negotiate with two puny nations so easily. Poland wants the Dutch regions, so would we not anger them by taking it away? And what about the constant resistance wars which will grow rampant? In the past union, Belgium already had to deal with multiple resistance wars, eventually leading to the independence of Belgium. Now that starting a resistance war is so much easier, would this problem not increase? Political parties are also another thing to worry about. Since there is a party just for Belgians and a party just for Dutch people, is that not a clear sign that there is already disharmony? And what about Presidential elections? The problem I see with that is that people will always think of their old nation, not the new union, and there would be 2 Presidents, even though the Netherlands would have been erased. In addition, there could easily be domination over politics from one side of the country or the other.
Why is it a problem with just having our two independent nations working together? Our friendship is already strong, and it does not seem like we have any tensions. I do not see a need to have a merge, when our two nations are basically cooperating in a useful manner already. Some might say the economic output will increase. Well, if you want the money, then sure, go for it… but at the cost of so many problems? There is no necessity in forcing together two brothers into one body. Would you want to do that? That's why I have a dream, where one day, both the nations of Belgium and Netherlands will continue to collaborate as always, helping each other out as brothers would do.
Neutrality
Belgium is famous for being arguably, the most neutral country in all of eRepublik, and yes, we will continue to be so. It is important to be friendly with all neighboring nations, not only because it guarantees safety, but also because we are then able to avoid wars related to alliance conflicts. However, I agree, it is important to continue creating Mutual Protection Pacts with other nations, but we will make sure to keep the alliances spread out, whether it is with large powerful nations like Poland, or simply just small weaker nations like Ireland. Thus, I have a dream, where one day, when Belgium is in a tight situation, where it seems as though we must finally sway toward one side of the fight, we will not have to, because other nations will respect our neutrality which we have been honorably working towards for such a long time.
Yours Truly,
Monsieur Guillontine

Monsieur Guillontine

lol, neutrality? EN and FR version,
Where's your NL version?
XD
Sorry Artem, couldn't find a translator. Unless you wanna translate? 😉
Merge is a useless nonsense!
Agreed splashdog 🙂
Excepted that resistance wars weren't launched by nationalistic people, but by foreigners😁
Voting won't work with the current game mechanics.
Still voted though
voted .
A merger is currently off-topic; why talk about a merger when there's nothing to talk about? Looks awkward, like a goalkeeper trying to catch a ball that isn't there anymore. Will we vote for a shadow fighter?
On neutrality, I see only a proposal to continue the current policy, so in fact he says 'I have a dream... to keep things like they are'
Also, no Dutch language with this candidate - and the French translation is worse than previous article... I'd rather vote for an experienced, trilingual eBelgian with proved genuine patriotism.
And I vote against American spelling.
So is there nothing good in this candidate? I didn't say that, but we will have to find out in the next episodes 😛
1) a merge is not off topic. it is being debated, and so i give my stance
2) i believe in neutrality. some believe in going toward an alliance, therefore i stated my stance
3) i didnt write the french translation and i could not find someone to translate into dutch. being trilingual has nothing to do with this.
4) you are being racist
5) i'd appreciate it if you could refrain from bashing me. thanks.

+1
and i think it has got to the point in belgium where ward is trying to put fuel on the fire
1. no one else debates it anymore
2. no one questions our neutrality
3. lack of a cabinet
4. and cunningly accuses of racism - how cutely queued. why can't i say i don't like american spelling when we already talk languages? we didn't talk about the italian language in the picture, the four flags who seem to oppress the Belgian (russian, serbian, macedonian-looking and french), and i can't suggest another country in the row? also, who shows malformed children for propaganda?
5. does he already feel bashed at the first hint of a critique?
Again, missing the NL version.
Many RW's during the previous merge? Are you sure? Because I was there and I can't remember "many" RW's...
Indeed, Jofroi and Olv007 are right about their comments.
But is it really a surprise when they are part of the few people who really know what they are talking about when the subject is the old merge between the Netherlands and eBelgium? And not because they are smartest, or whatever, but simply because they lived it from the inside for a long period.

Hello, if you think about merge, two important things:
1)the nwebies born oin occupied country regions will be born with its citizenships
2)admins have changed 5g licence. Now newbies of non-existent would need 20g for selling on any market.
