Поздрав свима o/

Three days ago, I wrote an article about two national parks of Serbia, the Tara and Kopaonik. In this article, I wrote about another unique sights in Serbia, the Devil’s Town. I’m sure that when people hear the name of this place, the Devil’s Town, they will assume that it’s a town in which the devils live. A place which inhabited by devils. But sure, the name is just an epithet. Actually it ain’t a town at all, and doesn’t look like a town. There is no artificial things whatsoever, because it ‘s a natural phenomenon of rocks.

The Djavolja Varos, as the serbian called it, is situated in Southern Serbia, on the Radan Mountain, about 27 kilometers from Kuršumlija. The Devil’s Town has an area of 4500 square meters. All we can see are some kind of rock formations. Each has shape that looks like stone/soil tower or pilar. There are 202 towers. They are 2-15 meters tall and 4-6 meters wide at the base. The place was named Devil’s Town because of its strange appearance. They have unique shape because of strong erosion of the soil that was scene of intense volcanic activity millions of years ago. It makes each ot the towers has a rock on the top of it. Below the formatons, there is a natural spring water which has a high concentration of minerals. Moreover, the water is very acidic, with pH about 1,5.

As one of major natural monument of Serbia since 1995, Devil’s Town was a candidate for the natural world wonders. Actually, I have no idea how to visit this place in which located 280 kilometers away from the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. Maybe you can ask serbian people. 😃 Okay, enough explanation from me and let the pictures talk. 🙂
