Internet Relay Chat, kurz IRC, bezeichnet ein rein textbasiertes Chat-System. Es ermöglicht Gesprächsrunden mit einer beliebigen Anzahl von Teilnehmern in so genannten Channels (Gesprächskanälen), aber auch Gespräche zwischen zwei Teilnehmern (Query).

Bei der Anmeldung zum Bundesheer gaben viele Soldaten an nicht über IRC zu verfügen bzw nicht angemeldet zu sein.
Da der IRC in so gut wie jedem eLand der wichtigste Weg - noch wichtiger als PMs - zu kommunizieren ist, möchte ich euch heute einen kleinen Guide geben wie man den IRC verwendet.
Dazu ist nämlich keinerlei Anmeldung oder Download nötig.
Wenn wir unser langfristiges Ziel erreichen möchten; viele RL Österreicher in der Regierung zu haben, müssen wir auch sicher gehen dass diese aktiv an der Community teilnehmen.

Was ist also genau IRC?
Wie ganz oben beschrieben ist IRC ein textbasiertes Chatprogramm. Auf Dinge wie aufwendige Profile oä. wird fast gänzlich verzichtet, es steht also das Chatten im Vordergrund.
Es gibt allerdings auch sogenannte "Bots", wie den eRepublik Bot "Fishbot", der recht nützlich ist (Vorschau).

Wozu IRC?
Die Community ist sehr wichtig für das Bestehen eines Landes.
Die Kommunikation zwischen Bürgern & Regierung wird durch den IRC gewährleistet.
Zu Bemerken ist, dass fast alle die sich über die Regierung aufregen nie im IRC sind und daher die Pläne der Regierung nicht wirklich kennen.
Auch ist es kaum möglich es in eÖsterreich "zu etwas zu bringen" ohne im IRC bekannt und aktiv zu sein.

Wie komm' ich rein?
Nein, man muss sich weder ein Programm runterladen, noch muss man sich irgendwo registrieren.
Der einfachste Weg führt über Java-Programme. Dafür geht ihr einfach auf eine Homepage, sucht euch einen Nicknamen aus, und tretet ein.
Es gibt auch die Möglichkeit sich ein Addon für seinen Browser runterzuladen, wie zB ChatZilla (für Mozilla Firefox).
Die wohl bequemste Möglichkeit für alle Vielchatter ist es, sich eines von mehreren IRC Programmen runterzuladen, wie zum Beispiel mIRC (gratis).
Im IRC gibt es mehrere Server, auf denen wiederum verschiedene Channels liegen.
Unsere Channels liegen beide auf dem Server Rizon.
Der englischsprachige (größere, Internationale) Channel heißt #eAustria, der deutschsprachige (Minderheit) #eOesterreich.

Many new soldiers said, upon enlisting, they didn't have IRC nor did they have an account.
Since the IRC is the most important way to communicate - even more important than PMs - in almost every eCountry, i want to give you a guide on how to use IRC today.
For using it, no registration or download is needed at all.
We need to strengthen our community in order to prevent PTOs - and the IRC is very important for that.

What exactly is IRC?
As said in the introduction, IRC is a textbased chatprogramme. Applets like profiles are relinquished, so the chatting itself is the main purpose.
However, there also are socalled "bots", such as the eRepublik Bot "Fishbot", which can be very useful (Preview).

IRC - What for?
The community is essential for the insistance of a country.
The communication between citizen & government is provided through IRC.
What's to note is, that those who complain about the government are those who never access the IRC and thus don't really know the government's plans.
Also, it's hard to "become someone" in eAustria without being known and active on the IRC


How can I get in??
No, you neither have to download a programme nor do you have to register somewhere.
The easiest way to access IRC is through online-clients. You simply enter a homepage, chose a nickname, and join.
There's also the possibility to download an addon for your browser, such as ChatZilla (for Mozilla Firefox).
The probably most comfortable option for everyone who chats a lot, is to download one of the IRC programmes, like mIRC (free).
There are several servers on IRC, which consist of various channels.
Our channels both are located on the server Rizon.
The english speaking (bigger, international) Channel can be accessed at #eAustria, the german speaking one at #eOesterreich.
