Dr Strangelove Or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the high-seas

Day 3,919, 19:21 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by AMD.

Morning All.

This is essentially just a quick note on the current state of eUK and the way things have been going the last couple of months.

Some light listening

Essentially, the one word theme that can some up the last couple of months of proceedings is as such;

Complacency.

Feel free to agree, disagree, laugh, cry. I don't really mind. But one thing that cannot be in doubt that since the first JamesW term, what have we actually done?

Critics argue we have built up a sufficient stash of money etc etc. What are we using it for? What projects other than the New Player Foundation? Is it to stop an MTO (lololol) or to hold off a foreign invasion?

Well that certainly came in handy if that is the case.

I am not saying I am blame free on the matter. We all know my record in the past has been mixed. I have had ups and downs. And I was JamesW very sub-par MoFA for at least one or two terms. So yeah. And I will admit it. I got bored. The same thing made me bored every day. What was the point of logging in day in day out?

Back in the day and high point of my activity, the thrill of having to log in and wonder which forig I'd have to shout at on IRC today was what kept me logging in. We have settled in this eNation for what we have. Which wasn't always a problem.

Fast forward to earlier this month. The country is under MTO. I was a staunch member of the "pro democracy" team with a fresh CP coming in under MIK. I was excited. I have worked with MIK most of my eRep career. And all of thos amazing campaign promises and pledges to look forward to. And then nothing.

We had a national lottery. We had NPF articles. That's about it. Where is this strong government in exile we were promised? Honestly this lack of, well honestly lack of caring is what has really annoyed me. We are so complacent that something interesting comes along, and we do exactly the same.

Now I'm a realistic guy. UKs Finest isn't going to hold onto the dictatorship indefinitely. But someone else could easily swoop in and do it. I know where I would rather be in the months moving forward, the place where people seem to be actively talking to each other and having fun.

My major reluctance here is leaving my home, the Workers Rights Party. A party I have been a member of for just under four years, and the president of for over 2 years. You could argue in the last four years the party has essentially become myself and Huey George, who of course I am sure will do an oustanding job. But I'm sick of piloting a ghost ship. It is time to shake things up and join the jolly folks on the pirate ship.

So these have just been a few of my thoughts on the proceeding, and I cannot wait for my staunch former opponents aboard the pirate ship to embrace me openly.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love seeing what TUP do with new player retention (if they are in fact NEW players of course)
But what will you do about keeping old players here?

TL😃R
eUK is boring
I am joining the Pirate Ship.

UKSF is gonna pay me like 800cc per click so that's pretty much the main reason.
