The unreasonable - my pledge of loyalty

Day 1,991, 03:36 Published in Romania Croatia by Ion Vlahu

I have nothing but respect for Poland and polish citizens in real life, as i have for any man or woman in this world, without discrimination on basis of nationality, ethnicity or race. I feel a deep connection to anyone who upholds values that bind our humanity: respect, selflesness, freedom and friendship. That means i am not fighting this fight for sectarian reasons, nor 19th century nationalism. But i have my loyalties.

You need to understand that what made FAR and me act as we did is not hate or grudge, but loyalty, for a deep connection to people who stood by us. I remember once saying to myself: i will always stay by the croats no matter what, and i intend to do that no matter how much the world around me changes. I will not. I will uphold my beliefs, my values, my honour no matter how much fun it is or how bigger the bonuses are otherwise.

I have nothing but respect for poles, serbs or hungarians, some of them already know my positions in the romanian press against prejudice and rampart nationalism. But i am Eden. That is my honour. And you should respect FAR and me for being that. We are not backstabbers and we never will be. Better an honest enemy than a treasonous friend.

One who is eager to jump the boat for material advantages will do it at the first sign of a better option. The stubborn heads, the mules, the unreasonable, those are the people you want to stick with. The guys who go down for values, not the ones in search of lavishness.

"Unbowed, unbent, unbroken".
