Here's a snake bursting out of a heron's stomach

The headline is the story here… a photographer captured the moment that a snake eel, having been devoured by a heron, decided to burst Alien-like out of its stomach in mid-air, and then dangle their looking at the scenery as the bird flew on apparently unbothered.

Both animals were seemingly pretty chilled about their situation – the heron continued flapping around, while the eel was apparently in no hurry to leave the confines of the bird's stomach entirely. Meanwhile, the heron was being tracked by a number of other predators waiting to dine on one or both protagonists should they succumb to their ordeal.

It’s an amazing set of photos – not least because the heron is so nonchalant about that massive hole in its neck.
