“Non nationibus sed Orbe discimus”

Hello citizens of the eWorld,
we all remember that one of the things that really created us some problems at the beginning of our days on Erepublik was understanding all the abbreviations that are used ingame.
In this article then the Guilf of Free Journalists (GFJ) will try to avoid to a new player the confusion of being thrown in the mess of abbreviations by explaining the most used of them.

What’s GFJ?
Give a look at our own page on Erepublik’s wiki.
It is an “alive” page and it is kept updated so don’t forget to check it out regularly.
You can also visit us on our Discord channel for saying just “Hello” or to find an answer to other doubts.
POLITICS

CP= Country President

It is the chief of the nation, elected every 5th of the month. Between the powers (ingame): assign national officers, set the campaign of the day, propose an unlimited number of laws (between them also some reserved only to CP as declaring peace, leaving an alliance, set a new citizes’ message). He/she can totally lose the powers if the nation is conquered and ruled by a Dictator.

PP= party president

It is the chief of a political party, elected every 15th of the month. Between the powers (ingame): edit party details, nominate party officers, modify the priority list of the people running for the Congress elections.

CM= Congressman

Someone elected to the national Congress. Elections happens each 25th of the month, but only if the nation has at least a free region. Congressman can vote national laws and propose a maximum of two of them for each legislature. They can also accept citizenship requests. They can totally lose their powers if the nation is conquered and ruled by a Dictator
TIP: if a nation is going to be totally conquered, sometimes the Government can choose to have a dictator, in order to have someone that can keep ruling the occupied nation.

PM= Prime Minister

MoD= Minister of Defense

MoFA= Minister of Foreign Affairs

MoI= Minister of Information (and most of the times of Education)

MoE= Minister of Economy

PTO= Political Take Over
It is a coup and can happen in a nation and in a party
. In a nation it happens when foreign people infiltrate (by applying for citizenships) in order to take control of the Government and rule a nation from inside.
It can also happen in a political party: in order to control a nation you have to win an election and controlling a political party can be a good start.
Making a PTO in a small party (for example in a party with just 1 or 2 people) allows to take control of a political party avoiding to create it by spending 40 gold.
ECONOMY

WaM= Work as Manager

It happens when you work by yourself in the factories you have created.
It costs you only 10 energy for each factory.

HW= Hard Worker

One of the medals of the game. It is earned when you for for 30 days, not necessarily in a row.

CC= country currency

It is the national currency and is one of the values of the game with gold. Right now, when you change citizenship, value is automatically converted.

ORG= Organization

A remnant of the past.
An organization is an account of the game. It is used by nations to stock currency and gold, to publish articles on official newspapers and to make operations on the monetary market (the limit of traded gold is for 1000 unity each day, very far from the limit of 10 daily gold for citizens accounts). Nowadays, some Government have decided to rent their organizations, in order to improve earned cash for the national treasure by collecting their rent.

VAT= Value Added Tax

The same as in real life. Nations tax products in order to make profits. It can be set by national law between 1% and 25%.
MILITARY

TW= Training war
These are controlled wars between nations with good relations, in order to make citizens earn gold from military rewards, strength and prestige points.
Each nation ingame has TWs, often played as a ping pong battle between two selected regions.

NE= Natural enemy

It is something as the greatest enemy of the nation. It has to be proposed, and voted, by law. A natural enemy can be proposed only against a nation with which you share a common border; it allows to start a free war and to have a 10% influence bonus against the selected nation in battle (to citizens but not to allies).
It is not mutual (so if, for example, France declares Germany as NE, it doesn’t mean that automatically France is selected as NE for Germany).
The natural enemy unsets automatically if nations have no more a common border.

DoW= Declaration of war

It is a law that can be proposed only by a Country President or by a Dictator. As for NE, it can be proposed only against nations with a shared border but the difference is that it starts a war that costs minimum 200 gold to who attacks.

AS= Airstrike

This law allows to attack any region of the world, without the need of sharing a common border
(more, if you have a common border, you won’t have the possibility to select that nation for an AS). As for DoW, it can be proposed only by a Country President or by a Dictator. An AS is quite expensive for a nation, both in terms of food than of gold, and can be proposed only every 14 days.
If an AS fails, the war is automatically closed.

MU= Military Unit

A group that reunites fighting citizens. One of the basic organizations, with political parties, present ingame.

CO= Combat Order (settled in your military unit)

Combat orders can be set only by MU officers, in order to reward members fighting in a specific battle if they reach a selected damage.

SS= Super Soldier

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen improves its strength of 250 points.

BH= Battle Hero

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen reaches the highest damage in ground battle for a division in a round.

SH= Sky hero

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen reaches the highest damage in an air battle in a round.

CH= Campaign Hero

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen reaches the highest damage in a battle. It can be earned both on the ground than in the air.

RW= Resistance War

It is a war that can be started by citizens in an occupied region. It requires the participation of 10 people investing 1000 currency each
being directly in the occupied region.
The war can automatically have an influence bonus: more is the time that the region is occupied, bigger will be the bonus.
It is on of the reasons for which during Training Wars, often nations decide to swap regions, in order to better control the ping pong battle.

RH Resistance Hero

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen finances a winning RW and contributes to free a region from the occupants.

FF= Freedom fighter

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen defeats a certain amount of enemies in successful resistance wars.

MPP= Mutual Protection Pact

It is an agreement between nations, both offensive that defensive. It is set by a law proposed from the Country President, it costs 10 000 currencies to each nations and expires every 30 days.

It is a law that nations use sparingly: they are automatically deleted if a country attacks a country that shares a common MPP with it.
For example if Belgium and Germany both have an MPP with France, and Belgium attacks Germany, the MPP between Belgium and France is cancelled.
Again, it doesn’t allows to make training wars with friend nations but it allows to allied nations to fight without leaving their country.

PH= Prestige Hunter

One of the medals of the game. It is assigned each time that a citizen completes the weekly challenge.

TP= True Patriot
