What's Happening?
Lord Jopie
Hey all,
For the ones who don't know me; my name is Jopie(formerly known as Joep O). I served twice as CP, served multiple times in congress and I've occupied various minister positions.
After a three or four(?) year break I now plan to play actively again.
I have noticed that the government is not properly communicating its activities with the eDutch citizens. The media coverage of what the government is up to, is extremely dissatisfying.
In my opinion, there could be a lot more of an effort made in guiding new citizens, informing us about the current world situations, the goals of our alliance Orion(of which our Dictator is the SG) and motivating people to take a part in our forum and IRC(or Discord) debates.
Is there a functioning coaching program? Is there a military program?
I think the Ministry of Home Affairs should post a weekly update about what's new in our community, boost forum activity and in general search for interaction with our country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs could post a weekly article about the current world and orion affairs. Together with the Ministry of Defense they could explain why we are fighting for certain countries and battles.
The Ministry of Defense could also perhaps organize nationale strikes, handing out supplies to soldiers who join our IRC channels. This in turn boosts IRC activity.
The Ministry of Finance should keep us posted about our Financial situations.
The President should also make way more of an effort in showing himself to the public. On IRC, Diskord and the forum..
These are my thougths, thanks for reading.

votado.
I agree on almost everything problem is that people are not as active and enthousiatic as they used to be. The reports that should be published often aren't.
Being MoD I'm trying to keep commanders up-to-date, I'm also trying to update MoD orders on a daily basis. Currently there is no Order article online, I'll publish it asap (right now).
There were supposed to be 3 joint strikes, sadly we haven't been talking with other countries yet. Also there have not been important wars in the last few weeks making the joint strikes nothing more than a fun activity if they happen.
Puke and stuff, man
Joep O, that's a name I haven't heard in a while!
lol, Joep O is back, and Mattio too I see. Now it really is winter. XD
Jopie! While I agree with your sentiment and your overall theme, I do think you need to consider the fact that there is not alot of animo for people wanting to be in gov. There is a major feeling of disconnect between the two groups in this game, the in game people and the congress/fourm people. While there are active people in both parts of the community there has been nothing done by this gov to bring these groups together. The discord I had setup has an active group on there already, which is really good to see, its just sad that nobody from the gov has even really bothered to check it out, make any type of contact about it. If we had a proper gov, there would be an effort made in order to incorporate these groups together in order to heal this divide.
There is also a lack of enthusiasm in the community as well, something the gov isn't helping with.
If you look at the initiatives made in the past month, its all come from the players and not from the gov.
I was on there!
and i love you for it 😛
Discord is not that active
First of all, you need to accustomize to the new situation. You can't expect the same 'great things' as 3/4 years ago, when our eNation and the entire eRep World had 5x more citizens. If you'd look around, you'd notice this is the case in literally every nation in the eWorld (including larger nations than ours).
Coaching and Military 'programs' are hollow terms. What do these mean? Almost all ideas about Ministers forced to publish articles (while most of the times there's hardly anything noteworthy) are reductive and neither a success in the past.
I think you need new goggles to see the current situation with. We've had governments of every possible colour over the last year and not one managed to create the situation you desire (except for some Country Presidents who just happened to be very active/ambitious). I've always said activity is a mutual exchange: If the country is active, the government is active and vica versa. You can't expect a government to create 'activity'. Their task is to rule the country (which is doing fine at the moment) and obviously have events/programs/wars if desired.
Now, is everything fine? Of course not. But no one's to blame for that and not a 'government' can solve these things. It requires the entire community to be involved in contributing to solutions and activity. So I hope to see people like you and Auggustus stepping in in the near future to contribute. If you want my 2 cents: We need to bring Congress more 'in the game', because the current meta-forum is not working properly. There is absolutely no link between the in-game and out-game Congress and that needs to change. And an active President would help, as well. Same for the DAF Commander, who direly needs to be replaced as it's the key to involving citizens in the GAME. And similar solutions.
Solutions like these in the article do hardly anything for having additional involvement of other players, bar satisfying the few who are already active.
Of course you are right that I should not expect the same activity as three years ago. Still, you're saying that there have been active presidents in the past, so why is this one not that active?
There is a difference between posting every day or once a week. Right now, the only government intell is the MoD.
I think, that if the government was to be active in their communication, people would respond. It's ridiculous that the government is not even trying now. And if they are, we wouldn't know, because there's zero communication.
Don't ask me why this one is not active. Perhaps it has to do with the lack of active and capable presidential candidates lately. That way you obviously never get the best of the best. And it goes a long way to have an active government to address the concerns you have listed. Treat the problems at the roots, not the symptoms 😛.
Well, I'm simply just addressing the problems. I don't expect them all to be solved by the end of the term, but it's important for a government to have at least just some opposition..
Good to see you are back and active!
I can only speak for my own ministry (Ministry of Education):
There is an coaching program. I send every new player a welcome message with links to coaching articles and our official coaching website. Sadly enough only 1/10 players even read the message... Due to this very low influx of new citizens, publishing coaching articles is pretty much useless.
Furthermore, it is quite demotivating to organise any fun contest/event in eNL. I (and many more people) tried numerous times in the past, but most of the contest/events get only brief attention, and most of the time barely any participants from eNL. (for example, The Amazing Race or the eEurovision).
I do agree that the communication between the people and the government is abysmal, and it should be improved. A good start would be to further improve the activity on discord (it is awesome, join now! 😃).
