Water Below, Mountain Above

SUMMARY

"Water below and mountain above” refers to...

Darkness.
Ignorance.
Lack of development.
The muddle.
Correct punishments.

It is pointless for teachers to approach the ignorant; they must let the ignorant come to them. Sincere players get the info they need. Muddled players will find muddled information.

The mind must stir in order to accomplish anything. And once it stirs, there is always danger. When we meet danger, we must stop. When we stop, we have the opportunity to re-evaluate the source, to review the basics. That's why there's always a way to "get through".

Only good information helps players become wise.

ANALYSIS

Six steps for coming 'round the mountain and navigating through the water...

One. Punish the ignorant. Don't ease restrictions just because someone is stupid. Ease off the punishment when it is beneficial. Use the correct methods. Don't rush. Emotional attacks are useless too.

Two. Embrace the ignorant. Once you've helped yourself and attained some knowledge, then embrace and educate others and do it with a good outlook. Always seek the insight.

Three. Introducing partners, friends and children to rich players is seldom beneficial to them. Mixed-up kids need firm and correct guidance. Cleverness alone in high positions leads to mechanical behavior. Arrogance abrogates insight.

Four. Being stuck in the e-darkness means straying from e-reality. If we avoid real learning, what can we expect?

Five. Innocent ignorance is a good thing. It means having the heart of a noobie, curious and bold, eager and willing to learn. Finding the harmonies is the key to learning.

Six. Attack ignorance. Being a thief and cheat is useless. It is beneficial for everyone when thieves and cheats are exposed.

COMMENTARY

Danger lurks at the foot of a mountain, but good guides will get us through.

The first and most important step is always the attainment of balance, and therefore being responsive to opportunities.

The water can reflect the moon only when it is clear.

JUDGMENT

There is none. It is up to you to do the right thing.
