Want to be President? Go for it!

Day 2,170, 23:04 Published in USA USA by ligtreb
If you want to be President, you should run for election.

It's really that simple.

I respect many of the takes I've read on this issue already, including:

Artela: A Surprising Turn of Events
Israel Stevens: So Here is the Deal
Josh Frost: Five Parties ... One Destiny
Oblige: OMG THIS POLITICAL DRAMA I CAN'T STAND IT

However, I think we're making this much more complicated than it needs to be.

If Artela, Israel Stevens or Oblige want to be President, they should run and enter the race.

If anyone else, including Aramec, dmjohnston, irule777, NewAzazel or Wild Owl want to run for President, they should run and enter the race as well.

Let the voters in this country decide who should be President. The voters can decide whether they want their President to be new or old. The voters will decide if they want someone who will stay the course or be radically different.

This is a game we all play, even in its diminished state, there were over 1200 of us last month.

Candidates, make your case. Voters, pay attention to all of them.

Elections are fun. Years ago in my first life, we had normal elections nearly every month. Candidates and parties campaigned, we debated and the country was engaged in the political process.

When there are no PTO threats, competitive, compelling elections should be the goal.

Since I came back to this game in my second life, we had been under constant PTO threat. When combating a PTO, sometimes personal desires have to be put aside for the good of the country, so we don't let someone truly destructive win.

Thanks the efforts of all those who have worked hard to beat the PTO, we don't have to worry about that anymore.

This is a game.

Want to be President? If so, you should run for office.

Want to make sure the President we elect is good? Help your favorite candidate's campaign and do what you can to make sure he or she wins.

It's not complicated. And it's fun.

Here's hoping we have a competitive, fun and engaging Presidential race.
