The socialist's route to prosperity

If you’re an e-Socialist and proud of it, I’m going to hazard a guess that you’re disappointed in the economic side of the game (or just relatively new). There is an unspoken assumption in the game - private ownership trumps all.


So what’s a member of the proletariat to do under the circumstances? Please note, this is partly in late response to this government article that tells everyone not to bother...



The easiest way for any prole to get started is to work on your food supply. Yes, I know you have to “work as a manager” to get any goods. It’s just a name put on a mechanic though - think of it as working yourself in the factory if it helps push the button… Bread [Q1 food] is the staple of the masses, and it should be a staple of your factories too.


Why food? Because everyone needs food. Even the pacifists and moguls need energy to do their thing. You do too. If you’re engaged in the capitalist wars of conquest for resources (maybe the patriotic propaganda had the desired effect?) then you need energy. At least 800 of it each day to get through your daily tasks, which means 400 bread [Q1 food]. That’s two factories worth, here in the USA.



Once you make enough food to keep yourself happy and content, think of the starving citizens out there that are propping up the capitalist system. Share your bread with them. The marketplace is where you can swap your surplus bread for the money you need to bring in more raw materials, and pay your dues to the state.


All qualities of food can be sold for more than it costs to produce them. Here you have a moral choice. You can either accept the profit (then donate it to the cause or use it to expand food production), or you can undercut the greedy capitalists and rob them of what they most desire.



So what is the cost price? That depends on the price of grain [FRM] that go into your bread [Q1 food]. Each unit of bread needs a unit of grain. Grain sells for 0.11 CC today, and you need about 200 to supply each factory. Your dues to the state (for patriotic Americans) are 1.64 CC today, for each factory’s permit to pollute from the EPA.



From the 195 surplus units of bread from each factory (you need 10 energy to run the factory), you need 23.64 CC. That means you need a price of 0.13 CC to purchase enough grain to run the factory again tomorrow.


If your job is to provide money for the cause then selling at the same price as the greedy capitalists (ironically, of course…) will put 25 CC into the coffers for each bread factory [Q1 food] at the going rate (0.27 CC each bread). That’s almost 2 gold each month for the cause, or a bit over 5 months until the cost of the factory (10 gold) is recovered.


So, what are you waiting for? Play the long game. Get out there and feed the masses!
