The Secret Origin of Clint Carmel, Part 3

Day 1,908, 01:12 Published in USA USA by Clint Carmel

Okay, now to conclude this trilogy!

As you saw if you glanced at Part 2, things happen in life. Posts get eaten, or threads get locked. Passwords are lost, players are killed or banned, countries are taken over or conquered.

And just like I felt when I lost Part 2, I felt the same way when trying to figure out eRepublik on my own. I was getting nowhere, and feeling lost and confused.

And then I found the answer.

I found it through searching around with Yahoo and Google, but it doesn't matter how you find it, just that you do. If you find it through this article, so much the better for you.

We have a Wiki. For example, this is me: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Clint_Carmel

On the left side of the Wiki is the most important link ever in the entire history of mankind and perhaps a few dinosaurs: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Community_communication

It changed my life. It is a list of country forums and chat rooms.

I do not care if you are a two-click player or a country president; that wiki page will make you a better player, and will make this game a more interesting and enjoyable game for you.

I can not emphasize this enough. Go to line 69. You will see this:
69 Icon-USA.png USA eUSA Forums #usa-chat or #usa
Whether you are in the AFA, WTP, AMP, FED, VOX, or any other party, whether you are unaligned, whether you are a seasoned soldier in Easy Company or some other Military Unit, whether you have been here since day 1 or day 1901, this is a forum that will enhance your game.

It doesn't matter if you play eRepublik, quit, used to play it, or are considering it. There are forum threads there for every occasion. There are political threads, economy threads, welcome threads, game threads, and even threads for ambassadors from other countries.

And if you do not have mIRC or any other #irc software, the eUSAforums have a link to Mibbit which will send you directly to the various eUSA chat rooms.

I posted this thread just to say hi: http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,24341.0.html -- that was less than two weeks ago. And in that short period of time, thanks to the seasoned advice of the players that frequent the forums and chat room, I have accomplished the following: I have joined a political party, joined a military unit, started a newspaper, gotten a Wiki page and-- most importantly-- gotten to know some of the players around the eRepublik world.

Thanks to the eUSAforums and the #USA chat rooms, yesterday I joined President Killah's administration as an ambassador in the State Department.
I would never had been able to do that if not for the people I met. And today I just found out I was nominated by the ENN staff: http://www.empirenews.net/wotw5/comment-page-1/#comment-81

I don't care if I win-- because there are some really awesome articles this week by some long-standing veteran players-- but it's great to be nominated, and I hope I make a decent showing of it, at least. Mostly, I hope it increases awareness of this column, so new players can read this post about the forums and #channels. That's a win for all of us.

From where I stand, just being nominated is fine with me. Just having a shot is victory enough. And I owe it all to finding http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Community_communication and through that, the eUSA forums.

If there is one first step I would advise other new players to take, it is this: Bookmark that. Or subscribe/bookmark this column. It doesn't matter what country you are from; as long as you can read enough English to follow this wall of text, you can follow that list of forums and channels.

In conclusion, let me leave you with this thought:

If I had not looked at that list, I might have quit this game, or I might have done nothing more than two-click around for a bit. But that one decision to look at that Wiki page changed everything.

I went from lost and confused to feeling like part of a community. The eUSA forums (and #channels) have some of the most interesting people I have ever met. Some are open and welcoming and some are snarky and sarcastic; some are long-time friends and others are bitter rivals-- in the end, the whole mix ends up lively and interesting. Everything I have done and will end up doing here... it is all of it thanks to the people there.

This is the welcome threa😛 http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,12441.0.html Have a look around!
