To anyone who may read this, I'm looking for input. I'm not quite sure what to write about at this point, and I'm open to suggestions! Should I do real world news? Real local news? Erepublik economic tracking? Let me know, you get to help me shape this paper!

DO NOT DO REAL WORLD NEWS. It is a waste of space and time. There are a hundred blogs & websites that are devoted to this, and any of these would be more appropriate places than eRep. This is eRepublik, and it's got its own events going on.
Find a niche that's not inundated. Economics might be better covered than you can provide, unless you're well versed in economic theory and game mechanics.
I personally suggest foreign news, your take on what's going on in far-off countries whose news we hardly ever get. For instance, what's happened to all the Ukranians devoured by Hungary? What's Greece talking about? How about South Africa?

Welcome. Ease your way into things. Check out what other people are writing and what type of articles receive a lot of attention and feedback. Be patient. Learn as much as you can first. Then have a good time with your writing and others will enjoy it as well.
You won't get a lot of responses for the first few weeks. Don't worry. If you keep up a high level of quality more and more people will subscribe to your paper to be notified when new articles are published, and you will get more comments and votes.
This is a long way of saying "Don't be scared off or bored right away" because it will be a little boring and awkward. eRep is the type of game where it takes a good month or two before the fun really starts. After that, the world is your playground ^-^

Thanks all for the suggestions! 🙂 So obviously foreign news reporting is a welcome topic! I have just found the eIndonesian equivalent of the DoD orders, and will be following that using google translator as best as it can be used (which is a little rough). Are there any countries I should watch (Friends? Foes? Any country in particular?) or should I just surf the headlines (which would be considerably more time-consuming lol)?
