it's time for a change!
Willem Drees
Dear e-Dutch,
As some of you may have already seen, I have, as promised, made myself eligible again for the role of president of our beautiful country.
after gaining some experience in the current government, my plans have changed slightly but not entirely.
I stand for the next ten points as a candidate:
1: An open and honest democracy.
A democracy where everyone feels heard and where the congress and the president do not act in their own interest but for the state's interest.
2: Protection and support for the new players.
In my opinion it is of great importanse that we help new players with a support of guns, food, money and gold. so that they can rise in level quite quickly.
3: Give publicfunctions on knowledge not on political party.
In my view, it is important for us as a country to choose people with the right knowledge for important functions in our country and not to be designated by their political background.
4: Putting the housing project into a law.
to support new players. and the project may not be cut away. the project will have to be laid down in the law of our country.
5: appointment of a dictator in times of need.
as was the case with the old roman republic, quick action is sometimes required in times of need. And the power at that moment to be entirely in the hands of a congress sometimes works inefficiency.
I therefore want our law code to state that if congress think it is necessary, the congress can carry out a vote to appoint a dictator for two months. In this vote, 75% of the congress must agree. to appoint the president as dictator.
6: recruiting non-dutch players to increase our numbers.
In my view, the immigration of players outside of our country to our country is extremely important to make our country both big and strong.
7: The remittance scheme from the rich to the poor.
at the moment, both due to policy and how the game works, the rich experienced players are in a huge advantage against the new players.
There are, of course, programs for improving this, but in my view this is unfortunately still too short.
I am therefore in favor of a 10% payment from the top 10 richest players in food / weapons / money & gold. To the 10 lowest players in the country.
In this way we ensure that the gap between rich and poor is closed.
8: Our place in the world.
As many of you have seen, there are major changes in the alliances.
It is, therefore, for our country's security important to see whether the current alliance is still good for us and, if this is not, to look for a good solution.
9: Training wars
Where I was very against the tws, I have now turned. And I do indeed see that many people benefit from this. However, it is true that a certain group derives more benefits from this than others.
To give everyone a fair chance, I want to set up a program where players receive weapons from the government.
This program will be accessible to everyone except the players who already receive money from the flying dutchmen or the green beret.
10:Establishment of the institution against corruption.
To ensure that the financial resources of our country remain protected and to reduce the chance that there will be unrest over the minister of finance. I propose setting up an institution that will consist of three players chosen by the congress as a role to detect corruption in our country and prosecute guilty players.
If you have questions as a good citizen, I am of course always able to answer them.
With my big Dutch greeting,
Koning der zeeuwe.
Comments
As Minister of Finances, I kinda need to comment on No.10
Not sure, what corruption you speak of, sounds like some Imperator:Rome unfinished mechanic... but the idea of independent Congress commitee, which would be independent of Government, and which would control the Finance Sheet (making sure the mistakes of my predecessors of writing down unexplained expenses or making rollovers would not be repeated) or made sure Congress does not vote NO on return of concessions to Iran, seems like an overall positive idea, which (if I could continue at my job) would have my support 😉 !
No. 3 is important as well, as I always prefer government of experts instead of government of YES-sayers.
And No.4 is already done, as all government programs are technically part of the Law based on decisions of Congress.
Interesting views!
1. Seems to be a non-issue and pretty much enforceable to change either. I don't see exactly what is bad and most importantly, how that can be solved by your election as President.
2. Sure, it is important. Not so much to level quickly, but to afford certain goods like houses and food. With the inflation of cc and rise in wages that does not seem to be a big problem - but much is to be gained by informing people! Example in the Housing program, in which some players are either now knowledgeable about them or just refuse to use them.
3. I could name some people who seem to only be on positions (not only in Government, but in Congress too) solely based on their political party, yes, but they are very few. It seems sadly that the most active people are to be found in certain parties and not in all.
4. That is against the flexibility that was introduced a while ago. It would make Law very rigid and abundant again and changes will not be possible (this also includes expanding or increasing rewards!). It's just a matter of electing people who care - and don't elections revolve around that after all?
5. I can see the fun in roleplay here, but not at all in necessity. It is impractical thanks due to the enormous costs that are involved in establishing a Dictatorship (1 000 000 cc + Upkeep Fee) and the ease of removing it by enemies (determination).
6. Certainly! Qualitative players like we have already should always be encouraged, not immediately distrusted as we see some others do if it involves a ''foreign'' player.
7. Totally impossible to enforce, nor to know who are the ''Top 10 richest'' and who are the ''poorest''.
8. Nice to see someone notices the changes in foreign affairs, as I doubt many do. I would however not overestimate ourselves and underestimate our current alliance. No alliance would take us in - this had been the problem for years and which I worked with great efforts to get NL into Orion - and our current alliance is pretty good all things considering (the small size of us and the other nations in Orion, but still relatively organized and tight).
9. Good to see you see the benefits in Training Wars. And we should indeed help everyone get involved in those, not only tanks. I don't see however how in practice a program could be designed for this. Excluding those who already receive money from TFD means excluding basically everyone.
10. We don't need judges. Congress is the true judge and can check financial matters to judge accordingly. Seems to me there needs to be - some - regulations (e.g. on money being sent to orgs) which is being worked on but delayed by all the mess in Congress last month.
While I don't agree with all your points- you've obviously put a lot of thought in, and I endorse thinking! 🙂
I have full confidence in your motivation and capacities. Good luck, you have my vote!
You're making good steps forward!
At this point however I think it's still to early.
Apart from that: The current landscape needs a CP that can be highly active almost all day via several channels. Are you up to that. Or let me ask it differently: what are the times you are available in the game and your phone?
Good question and thanks for the compliment!
At the moment I am available in game as well as on my phone from 7 in the morning to 12 in the evening.
"All the time" or every now and then? Very important given the fact as a CP you are the only one that can perform certain actions that are required to keep up the TW's. If you are unable to do so the TW might fail or only be saved by players that need to invest a lot to make it work. Both from NL as well as TW partners. So it's important to understand what's at stake and required before you run for real.
All the time
I might not agree with all points but i like how you atleast think and plan out everything. I see some comments about how it might be too early but i dont agree with that. i really feel like u can change this country for the better. You got my vote
