Four years in eRepublik

Day 2,154, 08:21 Published in Australia Australia by Miss Wolf

Dear readers,

Today is my 4th eRepublik birthday. 🙂 It has been quite a journey indeed. Let us take a long walk down memory lane, shall we?

The beginning – Life as a wolf cub

I started out just like any other new player. I worked and fought every day, read the news, watched the big kids fight their fights and tried to make some friends. Then one day out of curiosity I joined a lulz political party and a bit later I decided to run for party presidency. Back then you got like 5 experience points for voting and 20 experience points for winning a party presidential election. So, it sounded like a good deal for a young player trying to gain experience points. 😃

The More Beer Party – Having fun, making friends

The MBP was just another lulz party at the beginning. I was trying to get more people to join by messaging them and running ads. (Yes, we used to have ads) I never thought any of us would ever run for senate let alone support a country presidential candidate. I started helping new players; answered their questions, tried to keep them around, donated them food and anything else they needed to survive. One time, however, I ran for CP, just for fun and I finished third. Not bad if you ask me. 😃 I even defeated Majester. 😛

In the meantime I had become a business owner as well. My former employer bequeathed the ‘Underground enterprise’ to me. To tell you the truth I didn’t make much money, but at least I saw what it was like to run a company. The Underground companies also came in handy when some business owners decided to join the initiative of the Resistance movement during the political take over of our country by eIndonesians. More on that later.

As time passed the MBP grew bigger and bigger becoming a fun community with party members helping each other and having good laughs on IRC. We even had a few of our own elected into senate. Little did we know that dark clouds were gathering at the northern shores of our country. The first signs of the approaching menace were political take over attempts targeting eAustralian parties. :/ The MBP survived all of them and became a top 5 party, thanks to those who joined to help me save it from falling into the hands of PTOers.
Times had changed and the party had to change too. We recognised the responsibilities that our top 5 position brought and acted accordingly. Alas, no matter how hard we tried to fight them off the angeldemon PTOers took over the political control of our country and one of the darkest periods of our history began.

The Resistance – The struggle for freedom

Those who remained in the country during those months fought tirelessly to regain independence. You can find a longer report on this depressing period of eAustralian history here. The long term effects of this oppression on the country and the community were devastating. Luckily the oppressors got bored after a few months and left the country. After what felt like a never ending struggle to get rid of the shackles of the eIndo occupiers people returned to the ruins of eAustralia and started rebuilding everything from the ground up. The PTOers took all our money leaving the country poor and defenceless against eIndonesia’s attack.

The final days of the MBP – The end of an era

The eAustralian political parties as they once used to be ceased to exist when the country was wiped off the map at the end of 2010. The MBP along with all eAussie parties was moved to eIndonesia and became Indonesian. More and more people quit the party every day and after eAustralia had managed to regain her independence and people started rebuilding the country there were hardly any eAussies left in the party. I didn’t want to watch my beloved party fall onto eIndonesian hands like all the other parties had fallen, so I stayed and waited for the chance to dissolve the party. I successfully held onto my party president seat for months long after eAustralia was liberated. In the long months of my voluntary exile I entertained myself and my friends with occasional runs for country presidency in eIndonesia, however my name never stayed on the ballot for election day.
Although I was contested several times in party president elections I lost the party only once, in April 2011. Luckily the eIndonesian reign over this once glorious eAustralian party lasted only one month. In the May elections I managed to take the party back and when the last eIndonesian party member finally quit the party in early July I dissolved the MBP with its original name, honouring the history of this exceptional party.

I am eternally grateful for the hard work of the MBP members in the struggle for freedom during the eIndonesian political and military oppressions.

Taking a break – eAustralia was ours again

Participating in the daily hard work of the Anti Take Over Effort, then the Resistance and managing Tax Haven companies, which all seemed like fighting an uphill battle against the oppressors, had really exhausted me. After we regained control over eAustralia in December 2010 I decided to take a break and retire from ePolitics. In January 2011 I was awarded with an Order of Australia medal for my contribution to the Anti Take Over effort and my tireless work in the Resistance movement during the angeldemon PTO and eIndonesia's occupation of the country. By this I became a Member of the Order of Australia.

During my kinda retirement I fought for the liberation of eGreece, was a member of the Southern Strike force, joined the Green and Gold Party and helped reshape it a little, we had a war with eNew Zealand (one of many), I appeared in a lot of Dartreal comics and gained my first battle hero medal.

The Australian Diggers – A quiet return

In early August 2011 I joined the Australian Diggers, which was founded by an old friend, Arthinian. Many of my friends joined and we grew in number day by day. When Arth left he appointed Ouke Stinos to be our Commander and later, in July 2012 Ouke appointed me to be the leader of our military unit. Since then I have been working on making the MU better. With the help of my friends the MU has grown a lot and became a top 5 eAustralian military unit.
We fight for a free and independent eAustralia, no matter how strong the enemy is, how small our chances are, we fight til the end.

During these four years I have seen eAustralia rise and fall and rise again several times. We have lost and regained our regions on many occasions. We even took revenge and conquered Java a few times. Which was amazing, by the way. The one thing that has always remained the same though: the awesome community.

I would like to thank all the great people I have met here in eRepublik for these amazing four years. It has been quite a journey. 🙂 Some of the friends I made here in the game have quit a long time ago, some passed away in real life (RIP Sam Cougar and Fredrok, you will always be in my heart. ), some have taken a back-seat, and some are still around doing what they do, enjoying the game.

As for me, I will keep working and fighting for eAustralia in my shrinking free time.
See you around!

Love,

Commander of the Australian Diggers
Member of the Order of Australia
19-time president of the MBP
7-time senator
