Federalists Don't Understand What Federalism Is?

So I was putting on the boring, yet sometimes lulzy Federalist "radio" show, while knocking out some donks in poker, and was not surprised, although quite amused to discover that two of their senior leaders seem to not understand what Federalism even is. dk3dknight and Apollo221 think that Federalism means a weak central government where states have more autonomy(although they did not say it quite so eloquently to put it nicely). That is what a Confederation is. Federalism is the belief that a country should have a strong centralized government. Anyway, maybe the Feds should spend less time bullying people on the internet, and more time going back to 7th Grade History and actually learning what their party name is supposed to actually mean. I can't stand people who think they are somehow better than me, yet possess the IQ of a grapefruit(not to insult grapefruits). If they are the spokesmen for the Feds, then Admin knows how incompetent the rest of them are!
Also, they seem to think they are going to design some epic space game? Who do they think they are, Chris Roberts? 😛

Well, strictly speaking federation and confederation are the same thing: a group of entities (states, countries, regions, autonomies, ...) bound by a contract and governed by a central government. The amount of autonomy differentiates between a federation and a confederation, the latter granting more autonomy to each and every member.
For example, one could say European union is currently a confederation. It has unitary monetary policy and has various other policies that are applied union-wide. On the other hand, USA is a federation of some almost virtual states that do have certain liberties and slightly different laws, but most of the country's power is centralized in Washington. All EU countries have completely independent militaries (although most are in NATO), while USA has only one (ok, not one, for some reason NAVY, Army and Aviation are different militaries, but all are centralized and global, not local to a state).
On the other hand, Greece, for example is a unitary country. It does have certain subdivisions (Macedonia, Tessaly, Epirus, ...), but they govern only the most local things, such as construction of local roads, and all the power is centralized in Athens. There is only one police, one military, one economy, one social security service, ...
So, I wouldn't really say they were inherently wrong. They just might have not been precise enough.
Trust me, they had no idea what it was. They said Federalism means the states have more autonomy than the central government has authority over it. That is the opposite of what it is... at least from an American historical perspective.
Well, if that's what they said, that sounds more like a confederacy than a federation.
