eGermany Facebook Group... Is It Even Worth It?
Alex Drex
Recently, I have been pointed in the direction of a Facebook group solely for eGermany by Mr. Konrad Neumann and I quickly joined it. The group currently has 11 members, and no in game support or publicity, talking to Konrad on IRC was the first I ever heard about it. The goal of this article, and possibly even future articles, is to change that; to get this group noticed for the potential value that it has.
But what value does it have?
To begin, millions of people use Facebook every day, I for one am on my Facebook whenever I am on the computer. It's a good, fast way to communicate and find new things. A Facebook group could potentially be a pivotal piece in the Baby Boom that eGermany needs. You may be wondering how just having a group could even increase the amount of eGerman players, and I will try to give a good scenario of how this group could accomplish this.
Scenario:
"Person A is an avid player of eRepublik and is a citizen of eGermany. He hears about a Facebook group for eGermany and decides to join it. Person A's friend, Person B, is looking at Person A's profile and sees under 'Recent Activity' that Person A has just joined a group for eGermany. Person B's curiosity gets the best of him and he clicks on the link, he likes what he sees and he decides maybe he would like to join eRepublik and eGermany as well."
This is an example for one member, imagine how many people would be looking at the group when they see what their friends have been doing under 'Recent Activity' not to mention those that would also invite their friends to the group. Clearly this group has the potential to gain members in both a direct, and in-direct way.
The group also offers the ability to communicate with other people from the game. Of course this would be an addition to both the eGerman Forums and the eGerman IRC. But the communication it could offer would be very convenient, considering the amount of people that would be on Facebook anyway.
This could also bring more players to eGermany than just real life German's. If they know that their friends are in eGermany, they might be motivated to join it, instead of another country where they don't know anyone.
The only thing needed to get this snowball effect rolling is some members to start out the group and get it noticed, invite friends and just talk about it. I encourage all citizens of eGermany that have a Facebook account to join the group and help eGermany and the Baby Boom Project!
As you can see, a eGerman Facebook group has an immense potential and should be used to its fullest!
Hopefully there will be more articles to come regarding the eGerman Facebook group. I may in a few weeks perhaps give an update on the group including how many members there are now, etc.
Here is the Group, please join it! :

Wenn ich also keine Freunde hab, bringt mir das auch nix, schade!
(Spaß am Rande)
Yeah, the only problem is that most of the Germany don't use Facebook. There are only 1 million (i am not quite shure though) registered there.
If you compare that to the 15 million users in the 3 VZ-Networks .....
Dr. Pain,
That is what I was kind of wondering about, I didn't know if Facebook was as popular in Germany as it is in the US. Well, hopefully some of the people that do have it do play eRepublik.
And not everyone in eGermany is from Germany in real life.
Thank you all for reading. 🙂
wow only 1 million use it in Germany?
there are 2-3 million using it in Denmark which accounts to 60-65% of the entire population
i believe they have something else similar to facebook.
