Halfway through DocterDry's term as Prime Minister and many promises he has made, have not been delivered.
Recently, former PM Wally Wilson asked the current PM a series of questions in the Public Gallery section of the forums...
Facebook: "If elected, i will establish a facebook page for eAustralia." Status?
DocterDry - Haven't got around to it. Combination of real life and constant in-game disruptions has delayed this. I am debating whether or not i should actually do some of the things i have promised to improve the community because it will benefit the people trying to destroy the country and any good work i do will be undone in the next month.
eAus website: " update our community website and make it easier for community members to update it. If i win government i will try to work with XG (the website owner) to get this page updated. I will establish a group within the community who will look after the site and who will update the site with all information relevant to our community (Tutorials and other information etc)" Status?
DocterDry - This won't be going ahead as XG isn't interested.

I should put out first that is not just a crack at DocterDry.
This is a problem that has effect MOST Prime Ministers of eAustralia.
There's always heaps of promises made every election, a lot of fuss in the first week, then it all fizzes out... the fun wears off.
You see, everyone wants the title and the power... but no one wants the boring tasks and having to put up with the trolling.
Sorry folks, but if you run for Prime Minister that's part of the deal... the good and the bad.
What annoys me the most (and on of the reasons that use to hurt my campaign) is everyone is worried about IRC activity.
From now on we should be saying "Screw the IRC activity, will the person do all the boring tasks?"
What we need now is Leadership.
That's leadership, even without the title of Prime Minister.
I see Garven Dreis trying to make ACP active and a force again.
I see CallumH123 asking important policy questions in the GGP forums, looking for important feedback from party members.
Now I, Mr Crumpets, will take the lead on an issue.
Since DocterDry has not bothered to get around to setting up a facebook page, I'll try and get the ball rolling tonight.
The question is... what should we include on the page?
Also we need to look at developing a NEW eRepublik Australia website.
If DD is to be believed that XG is not interested in updating the site, we as a community need to talk about investing in a new site.
Importantly, what should that site include on it's front page?
I believe there should be videos, an IRC box, news feeds, etc... to make the first page look active.
So Australia...

It's good to see that your being proactive on the issue, we probably should have a group set up to assist you. I don't know anyone who does website dev though 😐

ausrep irc is a waste of time. Trolling, bickering, whinging then crying to mama if someone hurts you wee little feelings.
Its good to see someone taking the lead on something.
I spoke to XG about updating the site. He said that if he is emailed the changes he'd be happy to put them on there. He said please make changes either as a word document, text file or .html file. This was in relation to when Hyuu wanted to update this and I think he is in the middle of making some changes to email XG if he hasn't already done this.
I just want a government willing to listen to the opinions of elected representatives of the country 😉
I'd be more than happy to help out anyway I can! I can help out with a website/brochures/facebook page/iphone app etc.
IRC can be good, but there isn't a lot of activity on there (it doesn't help that our political leaders have each other on ignore though!)
A good website is:

Easy to use
Modern
Has up to date information
Has correct information
Compatible with a wide range of browsers

Have you had much experience developing websites? If so, do you have a link to any site you've done?
I agree with everything you've suggested.
#Ausrep is where all the action happens. The forum is good for the procedural motions of getting senate debate done. But the lolz and the drama expands exponentially faster on #ausrep. Just ask a drama llama like Timeoin.
Well, Making a Facebook page isn't the most important thing for a Prime Minister to do, I don't think that we will all be gone if he didn't make a page.
James, the point is not that he didn't make a page, but that he promised that he would and then failed on that promise.
I agree with binda33. DocterDry should generously spend his free time doing things like setting up a facebook page for the community while a parge portion of it attacks him out of personal vendettas.
I simply do not understand why he wouldn't want to set one up?
IRC activity is only important so that people can contact and communicate with the CP and cabinet easily (aka you only have to idle in #ausrep). Not a big ask, really, and I would consider it more important than mundane things like facebook groups.
But whatever, any activity is good to see in the community, particularly if it can help us get and keep new players.
I would seriously consider looking at a Drupal or Joomla website to tie into the forums. The nature of these platforms means page creation by the community is a breeze and there are tricks to make integration with Simple Machines as a forum reasonably transparent.
