Congress Member Listing

Day 1,794, 05:26 Published in Canada USA by Michael 23

I have wanted to be more engaged in the game politics ever since the beginning. I like the direction in which we are headed now but I want do my part as a congressman and promote our long-time alliances, better economic measures, and greater progress for eCanada as a whole.

Foreign Affairs

First and foremost, I would like to do my part in making sure we have our closest allies around all of the time including the eUSA which I feel can be one of our closest allies as it's both strong and our neighbor. Our long-time alliances with France, Portugal and others are also to be upheld. While allying with our closest allies seems like a given, it's happened that we were allied with countries we were never allied with before while abandoning some of our closest allies. As a congress member I can put forward a proposal or use the political landscape to make sure we are properly allied. Given our current situation I can help put forth our alliances in Eden.

Financial Sustainability

It's a difficult time in the game for all economies, especially our eCanadian economy. Our recent VAT change to 10% is a good move by the egovernment and I would like VAT to stay at this level. It helps promote greater supply and sales by individuals while curbing the grey market.

While I've seen others try and fail to increase import taxes in congress to at least around 15%, I also kept seeing the posts from frustrated eCanadians when the Poles dumped 500 Q6 weapons on the market or when similar things happened in the market. I realize without import taxes that prices for our products may be lower, but I also think 5-10% import taxes for weapons increases our revenue if a country chooses to dump on the eCan marketplace, while at the same time protecting our eCanadians and their earnings.

We gotta remember it's the eCanadians who need to earn money off of the products they sell that they use to train or fight in the wars against our opponents.

MU Improvements

I respect all of the MU units within eCanada. While we have some of our top ranked units like the CAF, TCO, Captains of Industry, Night's Watch, HOPE and others like our political unit the Preators we also have military units like the Boomer's Academy for new players. I believe in equal funding for all MUs but with the aim of promoting self-sufficiency within the MUs. With MUs more self-sufficient, egovernment money can be appropriated to different areas of national concern.

Some have proposed supporting only one main MU like the CAF and this is a reasonable government as it avoids funding to MUs started by people who want to command their own MU for their own interests. This idea is also very good, but I still believe some of the main units that continue to fight for eCanadian interests should be funded to make them more self-sufficient reducing the funding requirement over time.

Game Recruitment

eRepublik seems to attract only certain types of players and it seems to retain even less as some are not attracted to this long time-based game.

I think the more important issue is making sure the people in the game who do sign up, actually end up staying. While providing them with food and weapons helps and motivates them to stay on especially as they probably feel a greater sense of the eCanadian community, I think that helping them learn how to become self-sufficient in the game is more of a factor in helping them stay. We're all different and the players may have joined the game for a variety of reasons, but I think that letting them know early on where to look for information, who to ask for food or weapons, or who to get into contact with in terms of finding their way around the game is key. I have personally funded the newer players with tanks and food, especially during RWs. I've also helped them by informing them of our supplies and providing them with the CAF border/insignia together with people to turn to, to help them add the insignia/border. These actions alone however cannot retain our player base and it's more important to inform them of what they can do to build up.

While various people have written articles through time about building up and growing in the game, they are scattered all over and a person has to themselves look for them through the wiki or Google searches. They may or may not be motivated to do so, and I think a possible suggestion is to provide them with several links or some information where they can look this up or a link to the eCanada forum with a page on all the information they need. It would be nice if they had a link in their welcome message to the page with all of the information they need to get ahead. Other suggestions are possible and I'm sure I can do more to retain new players as a congress member especially by working with other congress members.

Internal Party Activity

I like the CPF a lot as is center-wing mostly and since it has some great people in it. Chochi, the commander of the CAF just until recently, was the reason I joined the CPF. I do plan to be even more involved in party activity and our overall political activities especially as we work through congress to pass proposals. Since I would like to do more within the political aspect of the game, I am sure that consensus on certain issues will be required and as a result I will work with our party to help pass proposals and to further our politics in the game. Nevertheless, I do respect all of the other parties that we have in Canada and I think we all have to work together together to make sure eCanada moves forward.

I would like to be listed for congress and I hope to be elected into congress. I think consensus is critical especially since I last checked congress members can propose a maximum of two bills. As such, we can do a lot if we work together and voice and debate on issues and help put proposals into place together.
