A concern with regards to the war.
Dr. Pierre Chang
If you have decided to skip past that lovely disclaimer at the top of this article, I want to make one thing very clear. I have only been in this game for twelve days, and this is my first article. As you can expect, there is a high possibility that some of the opinions of this article might be based on misconceptions (whether that is my own fault or the fault of someone else is debatable). With this in mind, I ask kindly that you please leave your whippings, verbal abuse and/or lynchings to a later date, preferably once I have reached say, 30 days in the game or so. From that point forward, I leave myself completely open to any abuse that is thrown my way.
Now that I've gotten that part out of the way, I can get on with the moaning. From what I have read, I have started my life in eRepublik at a very exciting time. A great change is coming in the game, in the form of the stupidly named "eRepublik Rising" which will undoubtedly be a great challenge for all of eIreland. While it will give me great pride to be one of the first eIrelanders to enter the next edition of eRep, it also gives me great relief to know that (at least for a while), I will be on even terms with everyone else with regards to the game. It also appears that this is the first large scale war ever fought on Irish soil (yet again, I may be wrong). It gives me a great sense of honour to fight for the sovereignty of my country against the EVIL and imperialistic British (I admit, I'm garnering sympathy).
However, I do see one thing wrong in all of this. Without doubt, Ireland has performed to an extremely high standard, a standard that many of which in eRepublik, including our foes across the Irish sea can admire. Despite having a population of a considerably less amount than the British, and coupled with a few MPP's of course, we were able to push the British out of most of our territories. Of course, we have a lot of other nations to thank for this, but I feel that we have performed excellently in this skirmish. And while I think that our wonderful Taoiseach and our superb Minister of Foreign Affairs have been exemplary in giving us all the latest summaries of what has happened, I feel that a lot of decisions are being made behind closed doors and without the consultation of the Irish public.
Now, while I realise that with the fast moving nature of war in eRepublik and the tendency of the legislature to drastically slow down decision making, I still feel that this current administration hasn't been very transparent when it comes to reporting the decisions that are being made. Take for instance, the invasion of Cork & Kerry by the Polish Forces today. While it was the necessary, and at least in my opinion, the correct decision, look at the time frames between the decision being made and the decision being reported to the greater populace at large. Just as the battle was ending, Taoiseach Moomoohead wrote an article detailing the move.
This in my opinion is unacceptable. While I accept the reality that, yes, this is just a game and as such, real life comes first, the fact that it took almost a day for this to be reported in the media is a crying shame. And yes, while a citizen that was even somewhat aware of the general going ons of the game would have noticed in this time frame, there are many out there who dont. I'm sure the majority of the so-called "Two-Clicker" populace wouldn't even browse over who or where they were fighting.
So, what am I suggesting. I think the very simple solution that is needed is quicker reporting of events from government sources, from the Taoiseach or otherwise, to the Irish public. I really don't think it would be too much of a hassle to write a concise article about a greater decision that is being made. While this wont make a huge impact, I believe that it will push a very successful operation into the extremely successful operation bracket. I'm sure many will agree that they dont like to be left in the dark about anything, especially not an event as seismic as this. I'm not expecting this article to turn many heads in the cabinet, but if I can get through to just one person, than that's good enough for me.
Namaste,
Dr. Pierre Chang

Your article is very good for your first. congrats 🙂 I tend to agree with your opinion as to the lack of information the general population is receiving. When I was a babe in the eUSA, when there were multiple battles going on, we had a defense department constantly updating the populace on what to do, where to fight, when to fight, how to get free guns, etc.
It would make sense to have our defense department tell the population which battles are priority so that our damage can be concentrated. The last 2 day, I have just sort of looked at the various battles and fought in the one where our wall was smallest. but who knows whether this was the best one to fight in
Good first article Doctor. Nice to see a good writer in the media.
Dont forget to visit and sign up for our national forums, where you can keep a close eye on those in power!

Also, if you are in the IDF, you can always visit the IDF channel on IRC, where many of the military top brass hang out.
From there you can get the straight poop from the horses mouth (and many other well-worn cliches as well)
Subb'd because of Lost :3.. Oh yeah, and the pretty good article
@Dash I totally forgot to address the article in my forums! I signed up from the new citizen message but even there, there isn't much info.
That's some impressive stuff for a newer player.
A well written article, looking forward to more
@Basher "When I was a babe in the eUSA, when there were multiple battles going on, we had a defense department constantly updating the populace on what to do, where to fight, when to fight, how to get free guns, etc."
We have had the very same thing here if you have been reading the Orders paper.
@Dr.Pierre, very well written article. However, there have been more Govt articles in Ireland explaining things, than in any other country involved. We are trying our best to keep people informed, however the workload on the Govt has severely increased in the past number of days. Staying focused and making the right decisions is priority, and I apologise if this hasn't left us with much time to keep the public informed. Moo has said that he will be keeping the public informed from now on and every member of the Irish Govt is working very hard at the moment to see this through. Forums and IRC are good places to keep yourself informed.
😁^
Stay strong Ireland o7
Good. Wide Awake.
But gotta say that times of war are not times of govt transparency in realtime.
Can't be done, simple.
When decisions are made they are communicated quickly and effectively, and there are always experienced citz on, whom will help with queries where they can.
Suggestions above are all good.
But srsly, and to anyone else thinking the same, you can't run a war room broadcasting your every thought before actions are taken. You would just lose if you did.
And we wouldn't want that now, would we?
🙂
Nice article. 🙂
