Dear all,

Its been ages since I held a contest but the action on the IRC today convinced me that I MUST rectify this immediately : ) My apologies that I cannot write myself since I am in Indonesia BUT Navin is a cool dude and I thank him for posting this on my behalf.

I see a dearth of fun articles in the Indian media (and the world media too for that reason) I can however see that there are some awesome new citizen writers of late (reading from the forum posts!) and articles are the best way of encouraging participation.

So, without further ado... lets cut to the contest.

The prize pool this time will be 50 gold and I will increase it for the next contest IF the entries are encouraging.

*** CONTEST DETAILS ***

This contest will be valid between days 1282 - day change 1289, (Contest ends the moment the game day changes to 1289 which means at 12:29 IST on day 128😎

Only articles published within that time frame will be considered.

Prize pool will be divided half and half between players from level 1 till 20 and from level 20 above.

If any of the categories does not have a decent "quality" article, the other group winner will take double the prize money. In other words, it is NOT necessary to reward a rubbish article just because no one else wrote any article!

No runner up prizes... ONLY winner takes it all... Sorry, it makes more sense to have a 25 G prize pool!

and if you really write well and no one from the other category writes a decent article, then u can earn upto 50 G!

Now onto the most ambiguous part...what constitutes a "decent" article? and who will be the judge?

A "DECENT" ARTICLE (in other words an article that is eligible) should be

- One that is NOT plagiarised (copied from anyone)

- One that makes for FUN reading. Not necessary to have images in it as long as you can keep the attention span of the reader all the way down to the bottom.

- Can be of one of the 3 categories (comedy/dark comedy/satire/sarcasm, war reporting and analysis, fictional story series)

FINALLY, the judging process

This is MY competition, so I am the sole judge. : ) I am unbiased in my judging always and only wish to have this to encourage and reward guys... especially newbies, and especially since gold nowadays is so valuable to have!

The number of votes is NOT criteria for the best article and will not be considered.

You can write as many articles as you can in a day. Quantity only improves your chances but its quality that will count for victory.

Ofcourse a cool fictional cloak and dagger story which runs on a multi part series might just be the clincher as that would be the perfect blend of quantity and quality.

Lastly... command over English isn't the most important - (this is n't a literary Booker prize!) So use pictures... have as many grammar, language goof ups... hell it does n't matter... just make sure its fun to read : )

FINAL WORD... I will try and update the front runners on a daily basis (through Navin's newspaper) and will also put in a word about why I chose them (and other notable articles printed)
